We all know that kids do not like homework, and we all know that kids just want to get rid of it. I know, I want it gone too. But what if there is a good enough debate that we can maybe, just maybe, end the suffering of children having homework. I’m going to be talking about why schools should not have homework. Some reasons are depression, stress, and exercise.
The first thing i’m going to talk about is how homework can cause depression. Depression is very serious and can get very serious very quickly. You’re probably wondering how homework can cause depression, well let me tell you. First off, if a pupil is inundated with too much homework their life balance is thrown out of all proportion. All children and adults too should adopt an 8-8-8 circadian rhythm to life where eight hours work,

Who knew that the work your teachers are giving you, could lead to the end of our lives? Anyways, the second fact i’m going to tell you about is the stress, lots of stress! Children should not be given homework is that they need time to relax and take their minds off work. The pressure of having to complete homework every night is quite daunting for most children and they need time to refresh their minds and bodies. In April, Denise Pope, a researcher at Stanford University, found that too much homework can negatively affect kids by increasing stress and sleep deprivation and generally leaving less time for family, friends, and activities. According to Pope, homework should not be simply assigned as a routine practice. Homework has you taking hours out of your kids day and by the time they are done, it's dark out and they are so stressed they want to go to bed. See what I mean by a lot of stress!? The last thing is exercise, because we all know that we need exercise. Every night that I have
When you think about school one of the first things that pops into people’s mind is homework. Basically if you have asked your parents or your grandparents they would say that they remember the homework load. Now we all know that homework can be beneficial but also can be very unhealthy with all of the stress that it causes. Over the years the homework load has increased because of the fact that schools think that they need to try to keep up with other countries in academics. And will doing all of this homework now be all for nothing later? The homework load has increased these past couple of years and it is causing a lot of stress on kids and overall is not helping their academics in the long run.
People always say “practice makes perfect,” but are three extra hours of homework going to benefit the student? A group of Australian researchers found the average scores of a student’s academic performance, and the amount of homework assigned on a daily basis. Their results clearly implied that when students spend more time on homework, their grades become lower, and can cause students to suffer from depression. If a student is engulfed with too much homework, their life balance is thrown out of proportion, and could cause them to stress out. Studies have proven that the average person needs an 8-8-8 daily routine, eight hours of work, eight hours of play, and eight hours of rest.
Healthline.com has said that “Students in high achieving neighborhoods who spend too much time on homework have more health problems, stress, and alienation from society.” Being sick of school is one thing, but when school is making you sick because of the homework you have now is bad. Elementary kids having physical problems just from homework can eventually lead to other possible problems down the road. These problems include substance abuse, becoming a high school dropout, and possibly death by suicide. So why risk a student’s life for a few homework
Homework, why it's bad Think about this: An employe is working for 8 hours then there boss asks u to go home and do a two hour of work and they have two kids at home that need to still eat dinner and one of them have to go to basketball practice and the other has to go to work at the same time and they have to finish the job their boss gave them. This is how some students feel they go to should eight hours a day then go home and have to do more work but at the same time they have something they need to do other than do more school work. According to the author in the article why homework is bad for kids states a lot of reasons why homework is bad for kids one of the main reasons is that kids are too overwhelmed with homework that they drop out of school is because of conflicts at home between parents and children about homework and missing and Incomplete homework from school that is bringing down there grade.
Too much stress due to homework is quite common. It may be why students do not enjoy school. When I conducted a survey, I discovered that 100% received homework and 80% said that they get a lot of homework daily. I found that the average stress level from the students I asked was between seven and eight. Homework should not be given because it can lead to stress.
Have you ever wanted to just shred up your homework or throw it out the window and have no consequences? Kids are assigned daily homework from the time they start kindergarten at the ripe young age of five. Is it really necessary? Does it even help better learning or even higher test scores? The amount of homework we do wastes time, money, paper, and trees because it’s practically the exact same thing we did in class that day. Homework causes kid’s and teen’s frustration, tiredness, little time for other activities and possibly even a loss of interest in their education. It also keeps everyone up; it has kids and teens staying up until they finish it, the parents trying to help them and the teachers grading it. So, I think that homework is a waste and kids and teens should choose whether they want to do their homework for extra credit and practice or not.
I barely get any sleep because I have so much homework. Homework should be banned because people have activities after school, then they go home to clean and then do homework by that time it would be late. Although people think that homework is a good practice for education, homework should be banned because it can can cause people to be tired in the morning after staying up doing homework.
Today I will be arguing whether or not young school kids should or should not have homework. Personally I think they should not. These kids are so young and the last thing they should be worrying about is homework, instead they should be outside with friends, getting dirty and having fun! A quote from Monica Pellarin says, “I say give the kids a break… Let them enjoy life before life gets too tough.” I love this because it’s the truth. Life will be so tough in the future so just give them a break and let them have fun!
This will help promote my side of the argument so that my side will be the superior argument and will attract more readers. I think kids should have less homework.Three reasons are, that homework is stressful, kids are given more homework than required, and it puts pressure on students causing them to work to hard and and have anxiety and health issues.
Homework is for suckers. Homework causes stress for students as well as for parents. Homework is extremely demanding and many students are spending far too many hours after school to complete their homework assignments. Although, some students may be able to whiz right through their homework, other students crawl along struggling at a snail’s pace. Consequently, family time is put on the back burner due to the time constraints of homework. Additionally, any extracurricular activities are also put on hold. Homework is nothing more than a scapegoat for teachers so that they can pawn off their due responsibilities on parents and students. Homework should be banned for students Kindergarten through 8th grade because the negative effects do not out weight the benefits that come from homework.
Many people argue that they should get rid of homework but I disagree.I strongly believe that people shouldn't get rid of homework.
Kids Should Have Less Homework Brennan ishinaga p6 When you were a kid have your homework ever driven you insane! that makes you say aww forget it it's too much. Well most kids are having the same problems. Kids should have less homework because they're too stressed out according to cnn news in the article homework debate “I think elementary students spending 6 to 7 hours in school is enough they should be outside playing” but others say that what they get is not enough homework.
In today’s world, education is more important than ever, and with education comes homework. However, many teachers give too much homework, which makes students extremely stressed. In addition, some are into sports or after school activities, and some have part time jobs they have to work at, which adds additional stress to the already overworked students. Mounds of homework can cause students to be under so much stress that it affects them mentally, physically, and emotionally. Stress can make students sick with colds, stomach aches, high blood pressure, sleep disorders, and/or anxiety disorders (Menninger and Dugan).
Harris Cooper, a researcher on homework from Duke University, claims that too much homework causes stress. In this I paper will talk about the damaging effects homework has on a child, how homework causes students to dropout of school, and some ideas for an alternative to homework.
High school students feel more stress than working adults, and children are beginning to feel aversion towards learning. Both adolescents and children are at risk of health issues due to anxiety and less time is spent with family, playing, and sleeping. The cause for all of this is too much homework that is suffocating students. Homework causes students to sleep less, have more stress, and even forces students to give up extracurricular activities. These negative results can be improved by reducing the homework load.
