Hunting Year Round?
Allowing hunting yearlong would be harmful to the animal population. For years some people have advocated the desire or the need to hunt year round. I believe hunting should be seasonal and people should never hunt the same species year round, because you wouldn’t have any more animals to hunt. The animal population would decrease therefore; some animals could become extinct. It will also have environmental effects of hunters in the woods. The more animals you hunt is the less animals we have. Less animals = extinction or endangered species. Overhunted will lead to less food eventually for those who rely on hunting as a primary source of food. Poaching is an example of a form of hunting illegally that leads to extinction.
Environmental effects of hunters in the woods. Hunting affects the biosphere, which is where the living organisms exist. It affects the biosphere because wildlife is directly related to the biosphere and hunting disrupts the natural order. Hunting also disrupts migration and hibernation of animals. It directly affects the natural environment in that it throws off natural predation and population of the wildlife. Over hunting will cause a decline in particular animal’s species, this will effect everything around it. Cool calm mornings, the fog on the lake is dense and all you can see is your decoys. As shooting hours roll around and the sun is just starting to peak over the horizon, the fog slowly lifts off the lake and the target at hand begins to swoop, lock up and land. During the 1600s, when Jamestown’s first settlers arrived, there were between 24 and 31 million white-tailed deer in North America (4). As settlers pioneered farther west, the deer population steadily decreased until a dramatic drop in the 19th century. By the end of the century, less than half-a-million deer were left. In some parts of the United States, there were none. In 1886, the US Supreme Court forced hunters to get licenses and follow certain restrictions. Conservationists urged hunters kill bucks instead of does. Because of these precautions, by the 1940s, 30 states in the United States had deer herds large enough to starve themselves (4).
Approximately ninety percent of the forests in the Pacific Northwest have already been harvested. In order to protect the current owl population. remaining forests would have to be preserved, but this would have a serious impact. negative economic effect. Such a decision would affect jobs, regional economy.
I have been bow hunting since I was about 8 years old. I am going to go over the basic steps and necessary equipment needed to start becoming a successful bow hunter. Some of the key things you will need during this are a decent set of camouflage, a compound hunting bow and a place to hunt. Many states already allow hunters to go out all year long and hunt for the feral swine; however, in Arkansas, the current hunting law is that a hunter can take a wild hog while legally hunting another animal. Hunters should be able to go out and hunt for wild hogs, not be limited to killing them as they cross their paths or if they are spotted on their land. The problem is that people do not know that they exist or even why they do. As mentioned earlier, hunters defend their actions by saying that they are controlling the animal population, but have they ever taken the time to think about why there are some areas that are overpopulated? One reason that causes some places to be overpopulated by deer is by damaging their habitat. By destroying forests, they really have nowhere else to go. Eventually, some species just cannot survive and they die off. Deforestation is a major environmental issue. It results in a great loss of different species. An environmentalist named John Muir was very passionate about preserving trees, and helping to prevent deforestation. In his essay “Save the Redwoods,” Muir tells us that “we cannot escape responsibility as their guardians.” We can help decrease the number of trees that are cut down by recycling materials and using recycled products. Sure, this will not completely stop deforestation, but it helps. What is important is that people become informed of what is going on with the environment. Hunters will keep passing on there knowledge of hunting and the environment to their kids and anyone else that would like learn about this. The ecosystem is very important to keeping our world in good health. Hunters will keep being the savior of the wilderness as long as groups such as the SEIRRA and PETA do not interfere too much. Thus, deer hunting is necessary for several reasons.
Therefore, it affects their ecosystem, and the animals’ families. Overall, the evidence proves trophy hunting hurts the environment, specifically conservation. Therefore, the hunters’ idea that trophy hunting actually helps conservation by killing predators to maintain balance, is merely false.
