Athens was a city-state in Greece, this was the place where democracy was born. Athens was the symbol and measuring stick for Greece during its empire, people will admire this well put together city-state for all of its accomplishments. Sparta on the other hand, was more isolated and was known for their military expertise, these people were wanted as an ally during a war because of their military. Athens would be better place to live in than Sparta, for many reasons like, the economy in Athens was greater than Sparta's economy and Athens was more social and more liked because of that. Their economy was also boosting do to all the trading that was happening unlike Sparta. Sparta was the opposite they were isolated and feared because of their military. Also, Spartans were checked after birth if they were fit to live and serve in the country if they were not, they will be thrown of a hill to die. Spartan boys will serve the rest of their lives in the military until age 60, while the women were just there to make babies that were boys and to keep Sparta safe while the men were off. This is why Athens was better because the citizens of Athens could chose if they wanted to be in the military or not. Finally, Democracy was the government that kept the people of Athens free and also is the main reason why it is better to live in Athens than Sparta. Democracy was the point in which separated the Spartans from the Athenians because both had two different ways of controlling the people. Oligarchy was the way the Spartans ruled and how they made their people go into the life of warfare and no fear of death. Though, in Sparta people would’ve gotten tougher and stronger it would be a better idea living in Athens to live longer and have a chance to get a better
