Why I Want To Pursue A Forensic Science Degree

My interest in Forensic Science first became clear when I was in my teenage years; I always got enjoyment from books, films and television shows that were about crimes and solving the cases. As time goes on, this industry is changing, evolving and creating new methods of solving crimes and investigating evidence and I am determined to be a part of helping to solve crimes; especially working in the laboratory conducting experiments on pieces of evidence. My course at college has provided me with a solid foundation in the Chemical and Biological aspects of Forensic Science and crime scene work which I am eager to develop further. My experience of work and other activities have given me a good sense of the demands of this career in the real world and I believe they have demonstrated the personal qualities which can make me a successful undergraduate and employee. Outside of college, my main hobbies are reading and watching the television; I spend a lot of my time reading science fiction books, any news stories or articles and information related to different aspects of Forensic Science and watching television shows and documentaries that are also related because I find it interesting to see the real world applications and functions of the different techniques that I have been taught and have experienced in the classroom. I am the first member of my family to apply to University. My ambition after graduation is to take on a laboratory post and then later on, maybe after completing a Master’s degree, to specialise more in to a particular area of the industry that interests me or maybe go in to teaching. However, at this point I find all of the different aspects of the subject interesting; the science; the investigating; the laboratory work and I hope to discover what I am the most passionate about during my studies at
