The graduate degree of counseling and guidance will get me one step closer to my dream of becoming a school counselor. This is the main reason why I strive to earn the acceptance into the department of counseling. Throughout my life, I have witnessed doctors, teachers, speech pathologists and guidance counselors do an amazing job working with children and ultimately empowering them to lead a successful life. With this realization, it has given me the urge to look into a field that connects all these professions in which I hold in great respect. These professions not only assist, connect, and understand the weaknesses and disabilities of individuals but they help build into their mindset that with a little hard work and dedication anyone can surpass all barriers. …show more content…

At that young age, I was enthralled at how doctors diligently worked to find out the root of a problem and immediately had a solution for recovery. This made me realize that their efforts and dedication in medicine paid off when helping out those in need. Medicine is not a field that I would venture into at this time, but I believe becoming a counselor will enable me to assist others in need, just like a doctor would. In addition to having my first hand experience in practically living in the doctors office, I went in to and graduated with my bachelors of science in communication disorders to become a speech language pathologist. Speech language pathologist a notorious gift in their interpersonal skills and enthusiasm by building a strong rapport with their clients and their family and motivates them during their challenging treatments to overcome
