When I was younger, I’ll be honest, I never gave a good thought about what I wanted to be when I grow up. I was content with what I was then and wasn’t exposed to many job options, and when asked, “what I wanted to be when I grew up”, I usually gave a really generic answer. I knew firefighting or being a nurse didn’t interest me, and I wasn’t really aware of what interested me the most because I didn’t have a favorite. I either liked it or I didn’t, that was it. Now I can say as I’m older, though I still struggle with being comfortable with a certain career choice, I guess I have a general idea. Most people who work this profession here in the U.S make about 24,000 to 36000 depending on the amount of education and experience they have (Musical Instrument Repairer). These salaries can be affected in different ways depending if I am employed by a business or self employed. An employed person’s salary may drop if the business is losing money, whereas a self employed person’s salary would be affected by not being approached and paid by customers. Expenses from pursuing this career would be paying for college classes obviously, spending a lot of time learning the profession, and paying people to further instruct me in the profession outside of college. Health benefits really depend on what the business offers if you are hired. Some health and safety issue from the profession would be handing tools that could harm you if used incorrectly, burns from heating glue and metal parts to repair, and the potential dangers of chemicals used for cleaning and the like.
