In my four years attending high school, my Senior year is what really hit me. To have everything you thought about while I was freshman is now becoming real right before my eyes. College applications, scholarships, homecoming, prom, and finally graduation. I am two steps away from graduating high school and beginning my next chapter. I couldn’t have done it without my brother, who has been by my side getting me more prepared for college. He told me the three things to help me be prepared for college, number one, think and draw out a plan, number two, do the college applications and scholarships, and number three, breathe and remember that college is only fun, if you make it fun. He’s gone by step by step with me about picking out colleges and if they have what I want to major in. Narrowing down to top three colleges and picking out the pros and cons of each college. It’s a much bigger school depending where you go and if you’re unorganized like he was, your classes will be much harder on you. He told me to take notes in class, always be on time, have folders and binders for each class I am taking, and to always be focus and get the homework done first. He also mentioned that I should always ask questions whether it’s to the professor or my classmates if I’m ever stuck on a problem. Study groups are always best to work with in college. However, I shouldn’t just base myself on academics the whole time. My brother encourages me to go out and join activities the college offers, like, indoor clubs, community services, and sports. It helps me make new friends and learn to love and connect more with the community. Hearing his experiences with college and his advice, really got me excited for college, and more prepared for it.
