Jared Bregg Formsma 5th Homework As a Deterrent You're sitting in class and you notice the clock is about to end class and you're sitting there hoping that the teacher forgets about the homework. You've probably been in that exact situation before right. Well that fear is valid because all homework does is stop students from pursuing their passions, stressing them out, and giving unneeded pressure/anxiety Whenever I get home I usually relax for a little while, play some video games read, watch stuff but then I realize I need to do my homework and that is actively stopping me from doing things I enjoy and doing the things I want to do. It also stops me from doing the things I enjoy with my friends; I was talking to my friends and we finally got the time to do something that is normally incredibly hard to do since we are in different time zones and it requires a lot of other things to fall into place but then I realized that I couldn't because I hadn't done my homework yet. "We believe that schoolwork should be done at school, and the work that's done at home should be family time" (Gronkh, Kennedy 1). There have been multiple occasions where I have been talking and I'm just hit with a wave of nausea and am suddenly stressed out because I realized I have a lot of homework and it's constantly on my mind and my entire evening is ruined all because of homework. Homework in American schools is just given because that's how it's always been done, there is evidence of a small increase in test scores but it is not worth the stress homework causes.
