Why I Chose Social Work

Education is of great value to me and I take it very seriously. To be given the opportunity to study further is of great importance to me and I intend to go as far as I possibly can with it, with the aim of going on to do a master’s degree in the future. My reasoning behind deciding to pursue a career in social work stems from my seemingly innate desire to see others succeed in fulfilling their potential. Although it feels somewhat of a cliché, my passion and desire for the field of social work originates from a genuine wish to make a positive difference in people’s lives. As an individual, I enjoy traveling the world and learning about all the different diverse cultures and the different beliefs in society. In my spare time, I enjoy spending my spare time with children, this always helps me relax and unwind after a very stressful day as they always put a smile on my face. I also like listening to music and going out with mates which provides me a different environment from school. In addition, I help my younger brothers with their homework and babysit my neighbour’s son along with my cousin who has cystic fibrosis, so it is quite challenging at times. I am very respectful and open minded, therefore I believe in equal opportunity and I am always ready to challenge any unfair discrimination. I'm a very motivated person who is hard working and committed to finishing something if I start it e.g. School, College and University.
