It has always astonished me how something as little as a pill has the ability to alternate the functioning of an entire human being. Ever since I was little, I always wondered why I had to take certain pills and tablets, and how they were supposed to make me well. It was this curiosity that took me all the way to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff to study biology. My goal is to obtain a Doctorate in Pharmacy in order to gain knowledge in the field of medicine and offer my assistance to patients in need. I believe a professional degree in pharmacy will provide me the skills and experience that I need in order to achieve my career goals.
To further explore my interest, I started working my sophomore year of college at a local pharmacy. Over two years later, I have learned to understand the needs of patients, show compassion, and acquired invaluable relationships with customers on a first-name basis. Working with the pharmacists on staff to organize, sort, and supply pharmaceuticals to those with an authorized prescription has helped me to learn from a hands on, inside perspective that this is the career choice that is the right fit for me. I enjoy figuring out exactly how much of a medication a doctor prescribed a patient, retrieving the medication, and filling the exact dosage that the patient needs. It gives me such satisfaction that I am helping patients feel well each and every day. This desire to help others feel well drives me to want to learn more about the profession.
