What should we do in life? That always seems to be the question. Life is not guaranteed to be easy, never turning out the exact way that we want it to. A lot of people work hard to achieve their dreams of making a massive amount of money and having more than a seven percent return on their 401k plan. Truth is, life is not about the amount of money that we have saved up, it is about what we do to make a difference and how we will make our lifetime worth it. Something that people should set into place is a plan for their future. A plan that would help not only directs their path in life, but the paths of those around them too.
My plan in life is to become a Police Officer. Not only would that give me the opportunity to help other people but becoming a Police Officer also gives me the opportunity to follow in my Uncles footsteps and do something that I have wanted to do my whole life. I have always wanted to make a difference in the world, and this gives me the chance. Performing justice the right way and making sure that the laws of the government are obeyed is the job that I want to pursue. Being a Police Officer is a challenging job but also very rewarding. There would be a number of skills I would need to learn, not to mention that every day on the job would be a learning experience itself. Every single day that I would go to work, I would potentially be saving someone’s life. Stopping a speeder, arresting a criminal, preventing harmful attempts, they are things that would save someone’s life. Even if my actions were not as simple as that, for example, if I were to witness an accident or arrive onto the scene of one, just being there gives me the opportunity to take preventative measures. Kids in the community would look up to me and my fellow officers in a positive way which would also help prevent them from going down the wrong path in life. The better the path that kids choose, the better the world will be when they grow up.

I was born to a mother name Kellie Edith .I lived in Akron Ohio my whole life. My mom always told me and my sibling’s education was importance to have if you want to be successful. Although my Father wasn’t around, I never wanted for anything. My mom made sure of that. That’s why I love her, she was always independent. For years I have prayed that God will find a way to put my missing pieces together. My parents tried to convince me to go to anger management for my behavior. I decided to go to Job Corps to better myself. I want to be a Crime Scene Investigator. I Chose this career because it's something I’ve always wanted to do. Getting to help people and giving them justice is what catch my eye. all my life I been talking about being a Crime Scene Investigator, so i'm going follow my dream. You have to have multiple skills for this job. Two are good thinking skills and good communication skills.
Why do I want to be an area officer? While these words are not exactly the same as previous essay prompts I have been given, they all share the same idea; “Why do I want to be a leader”? Looking back at my old responses they are all focused on similar concepts; I wanted to be a leader because of the friendships, traveling and meeting new people, building better leadership skills, learning how to better communicate with people, and acquiring life skills, such as patience, teamwork, organization, and dedication. While all of these things have some importance, they should never be the reason someone wants to be a leader. When I wrote these I thinking about how to better myself, rather than how to help others. I was thinking selfishly. At the time I didn’t know what it truly meant to be a leader, to be willing to sacrifice myself for others. Even while I am still young and have much to learn, I finally understand why I want to be a leader and what a true leader should look like. I would like the opportunity to serve as a 2014-2015 Area Officer, so that I can better serve the FFA, my fellow members, and ultimately my world.
Finding your calling in life can be one of the hardest things to do, for some it is obvious from a young age on what you want to do. For example, my mom has gone on a spree of jobs in her life and she has only recently found something that she actually wants to do. My dad on the other hand knew from a young age what he wanted to do, he liked to tinker and straight after he got out of highschool he knew that he wanted to be a mechanic, and he has stuck with that career path for more than 30 years now. I am currently undecided on what I want to do for the rest of my life, however one of the careers that I am looking at is a law enforcement officer.

If I was to become a probation officer, one thing I would want to be is efficient, and successful. There would be several things I would try to focalize my attention on; supervision in communities, and its importance. Probation officers have very complex, and hard job; but if done with the right intentions, and the will to help people you can help change people’s lives.
This goal is important to me because I would be the first police officer in my family and that I would be a woman in a male-dominated field and I want to change how people view of police officers. One person that I can attribute my decision to become a police officer is my public safety teacher from high school. He was a worked for the St Cloud police department for thirty-five years and was the captain before he retired and became a teacher. I would always go to him with questions about being a police officer and what are some of the things they faced and he always answered me honestly and would give me advice from an impartial standpoint, not from someone that was trying to advocate to become a police officer. We would have conversations where sometimes he would be advising me to not become an officer and sometimes he would say to go for it but he always reminded me that to get through being a police officer it was always going to depend on the mindset you have towards the job and the people. Brain Keller and Mike Wessington came to talk to out class to give us more insight on the Law Enforcement Officer Job. Brain and Mike work for the United States Fish and Wildlife service, both with a title of Federal Wildlife Officer. Brain Keller was in the marine core, grew up in Washington, and will more than liking be deported to Puerto Rico in the next couple of weeks to work. Mike Wessington grew up in Louisiana, served in the air force, his first job was in Huston, Texas as a biologist, and currently in his position now for nine years. Brian wanted this job because he loved hunting, while Mike wanted this job because he was sick of people taking over the limit on game animals and he wanted to stop it.
A couple of months ago, I started watching “The Wire” and similar shows, this piqued my interested in becoming a police officer. These shows made me aware and interested in police work for example; the aspects of running investigations and how unusual the job can be. I have an inquisitive mind, this leads me to want to discover the truth. I want to put the pieces in my head by myself and get my own view on the matter. Working as a teacher taught me to use the information that was gathered, ,like planning lessons but, at the same time using my own judgement. Another trait I like about policing is the unusual work environment, I may be presented with emergencies, strange hours and other unknown situations that might arise. Dealing with the unfamiliar excites me the most, which is one of the reasons I left America to teach.
I have always taken an interest in Criminal Justice and crime prevention ever since middle school and I set out to make my career goal to become a Criminal Justice professional. Thus, pursuing a Criminal Justice master’s degree has been a part of my plans for the future and will become one of my core focuses that I will set up in my graduate studies. Since the time I was young, my grandfather instilled in me a deep respect and love for my country. I learned that we had freedom because many people would put on a uniform and risk their lives for our country to defend it. My grandfather told me about several people in my family who died while in service to this country and from a young age I wanted to be like them. I knew it was important to fight for our freedom and for our wonderful country like the many people in my family before me. My grandfather, who was in the invasion force in Japan during world war two is a big part of why I want to be an Army officer.
When I think of becoming a teacher I would like to imagine or hope that I would be “turning the key” for a student of mine to become something great. I have been soul searching for many years now to have a better understanding of what I am suppose to do in my life. I have worked in so many jobs in so many areas but nothing was fulfilling my life with any amount of meaning. I found myself not wanting to go back the next day or wishing I were somewhere else.
