In a society in which the cult of the "body beautiful" reigns one becomes less sexually acceptable the further one is from the stereotypes of beauty. According to the CPRF online article, Why Employers Don’t Hire People With Disabilities: A Survey of the Literature, by Mark L. Lengnick-Hall, exemplifies the idea of the stereotype and provides insight on why no employer wants to hire disabled people when he states, “PWDs may be less productive than people without disabilities and entail higher labor costs, including insurance costs, and employers may fear lawsuits and related legal costs associated with employing PWDs.” This quote demonstrates that people do not want to hire physically disabled people because of the negative consequences that come with them. Many of these individuals have tried to receive government aid. This can often be looked upon as a negative connotation because then the disabled community is perceived as non workers and lazy. There are many concepts on which society can admit are true about disabled individuals. One is being that the community could have been born with the disability and did not choose to live this way. Another can be that this group could have obtained the disability by being hurt in the workforce. These people did not as to be this way, it just happened and now life has to be endured.
