Insanity Are What Humans Are John Lennon once said, “Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives.” This quote is stating that people can become psychotic because they need to achieve their goal. In the two stories, And Then There Were None and Eye Candy, many characters went insane because their intentions had to be met. In this essay I will compare the two stories to prove my point that human nature is insane. Being insane means to be mentally ill. In the two stories, And Then There Were None and Eye Candy, two characters from each story were extremely insane to the point they murdered people. People can go insane for many different reasons. I have three real life examples of people going insane because of other people unfriending them on Facebook. A lady, Jennifer Christine Harris, was charged with first-degree arson because she set the house of Jim and Nikki Rasmussen on fire. Her reason for burning down Mr. and Mrs. Rasmussen home was that she was upset that Mrs. Rasmussen unfriended from Facebook. This shows how crazy our society is when it comes to social media and it shows how human nature is insane. My next example starts off with a transgender woman, who had to keep her male name, William Hanz De Veyra Arriesgado. She inflicted 16 separate and serious injuries on her ex boyfriend, Colin James Peady, because he unfriended her and changed his relationship status to single. My last example is so sorrowful because it leads to this young boy killing himself. In 2009, Simon Foxley hanged himself after a girl he start to be interested in unfriended him on Facebook. Her friends bullied him on Facebook, telling him to go die. His family told people that being unfriended and bullied on social media affected him a lot. Foxley wrote a suicide letter before killing himself.
