Stereotypes Formal Writing: Why are stereotypes bad?

How would you feel if you get discriminated and judged for everything you say or do, just because you are not like most other people? We hear stereotypes everyday and everywhere. Stereotypes affect people’s social lives, emotions, and much more. Some reasons why stereotypes are bad for us as a society is how stereotypes create a divide in our society. It is illegal to judge and discriminate someone based on their race or ethnicity, and lastly stereotyping is a form of racism, and also bullying. Whether it is a so called good stereotype, or a bad one, it is still a stereotype. Stereotyping puts a divide amongst our society, it is a harmful and hurtful way of labelling groups of people, and dividing groups in society. Some people think that there is a difference between being racist and racial stereotyping. A stereotype is an idea many people have about a thing or group that is based on how they look like on the outside, which in most cases is untrue, or only partly true. (4) “Racism is the belief that some races are better than others and the actions which result from those beliefs.” Then there is something called ‘racial stereotyping’ which is like the hybrid of these two. Racial stereotyping is creating stereotypes based on people's race or ethnicity not their gender.
