Thousands of years ago, the lord appeared to a 99 year old man by the name of Abram. The lord made a covenant with Abram to make him the ancestor of great nations. Christianity was founded by Jesus of Nazareth. Christians believe Jesus was the son of God, and the prophesied messiah. This is a belief exclusive to Christians. To the Jews, Jesus was only a wise teacher who was by no means the messiah (“What Do Jews Believe About Jesus?” n.pag.). Muslims believe that rather than the messiah, Jesus was a prophet (Godlas n.pag.). Christians follow their holy book known as the Bible. The Bible consists of the Old and New Testaments. The roots of Islam traces back to Ishmael, the eldest son of Abraham. Ishmael was born to Abraham and his slave Hagar when Sarah believed herself to never have the ability to bare a child. Hagar believed Ishmael to be the proficised child who would be the heir to Abraham's covenant. This was no longer the case with the birth of Isaac. When Isaac was circumcised, Ishmael mocked him (Zavada n.pag.). This would eventually lead Ishmael and his mother to be cast out of Canaan and into the wilderness. However, God had promised Abraham that he would make a nation out of Ishmael too. From Ishmael came the twelve Arab tribes. Eventually Muhammad, the founder of Islam, would be born from Ishmael's line. Muhammad would be visited by the angel Gabriel who revealed to him the word of God. It was Muhammad's job to spread God’s word to the Arabian Peninsula in order to change their polytheistic ways. Muhammad's teachings and knowledge would be put together to create the Quran, the Islamic holy book. Muslims also follow the five pillars of Islam. The five pillars are faith, prayer, charity, fasting, and pilgrimage. Muslims do not believe in creating depictions of Muhammad and Allah. This is because they believe depictions would lead to worship of the depictions as idols rather than worshiping only Allah. After the death of Muhammad,
