America, land of the free and home of the brave. This is so true but when you stop and think, what is your vision of America? Have you ever stopped to think about it? My vision for America is benefits for veterans, help with college tuitions, and people thinking about their morals. America and the people in it need to stop and take in consideration the men and women who put their lives on the line everyday to make our great country the way it is. These men and women deserve help if they need it when they get back from war. We need to give our veterans the benefits they deserve for putting their lives on the line everyday. If there was more help out there for students wanting to further their educations and get a college degree in the field they pick, maybe more students would take interest into going to college. Most students after graduating high school just stop there, they already have a high school diploma so they can get a decent job. The vast majority of jobs in America require only vocational training or a skill certificate. People who do not have the aptitude for college should not be forced into thinking college is the only way to be successful in life. Society should encourage students to explore all job options not just the college related ones, because with the way times are changing getting trained from a vocational school is the best option America’s citizens have.
Individuals are struggling nowadays to acquire an education higher than a high school diploma. One of the main reasons for this issue could be very well the price it is to attend college. Over the past years, getting a college degree has been the pathway to a settled career. College has been a reason for people to carry on after high school. Now that tuition has been raised, getting a degree seems to drain students with more loans and could be in debt. College has been raised to the point where people rather start working at a minimum wage than continuing with school. In the article “Are too many People Going to College” by Charles Murray a W. H. Brady Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, argues that our educational system needs improvement and that too many people are attending college. Some of Charles arguments on why too many people are attending college are obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree gives you a high paying job, college requires classes that are unnecessary, skill/talent may not need a degree and because they do not want to be labeled as dumb or lazy. Charles Murray makes a lot of good arguments on why too many people are going to college and I concur with his arguments.

There are so many students who would extremely grateful to attend any four year institution but can’t because of the lack of funds. College life can be very stressful, and the process can is very frustrating to most students the first two years. When the cost of college tuition is compared to the 21 century financial economy the cost does not make sense, because for a middle-class family it is impossible to afford sending their child to any four-year institution. It hard for students to graduate with the stress to pay-off hundreds and thousands of dollars in loans. Going to college is stressful enough without the need to worry about how we’re going to pay for it and what other costs will continue to rise with getting a degree afterwards. Soldiers are left waiting and unrewarded for their time spent helping America. An example of this is Kenny Porter a veteran from the 82nd airborne(ARMY) was treated wrongly at a VA hospital. He describes his experience like this: “Every time I opened my mouth the doctor shushed me or tried to shut me up. He was impatient. I was humiliated in front of my daughter”. This story is just an example of many other veterans that have been lost in the VA system and that have received little to no compensation for their service. Our current VA system disgusts me and the above quote describes the reality of what our servicemen face when they return from their service.What America needs to do is make the system more consistent. We do this by hiring more people to work for the VA hospitals so our country can get veterans suffering with PTSD immediate help when they ask for it. My Vision for America People have different visions for this country, but my vision for America is equality. I believe that a person should not have to fear their life when going to the store or walking down the street because of their appearance, religion, sexual orientation, or social standing. Thousands of people have died fighting for equality, but it is still a problem today. It does not matter the color of skin or the gender, a person should be treated as an equal, but that isn’t always the case. My vision for America is for everyone to be treated as equal.
