CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION Terminal pins The terminal pins are also known as connector pins. An electrical connector is an electro-mechanical device for joining electrical circuits as an interface using a mechanical assembly. Terminals are the metal components in a connector that conduct current. They are usually either male or female, as shown in the figure 1.1 Figure 1.1: Male and Female terminal pins The terminals are fitted into the connector housings as shown in figure 1.2. Housing is a connector's casing which is made of molded plastics such as polyamide, polycarbonate, polyethylene etc. The main function of housing is to hold the terminals and protect them from electrical shorting, electrical interference, dust, dirt, and moisture. …show more content…

The study concludes the steps to perform the test and tables the result of weld quality and quantifies a technique to determine weld strength of the fusion zone. The review of the literature indicated that most of the authors have worked on sheet metal shearing and resistance spot welding of various metals. Investigations on resistance spot welding of brass sheet are scarce. The authors agree that the main issue of resistance spot welding of brass sheet is due to its high electrical conductivity which in turn requires high current to reach the required heat necessary to form the weld nugget. The main objective of this project was to investigate the influence of blade and clearance on the work material and the parameters affecting resistance spot welding such as heat transfer from the electrodes to the sheet-sheet interface, current requirement to achieve the necessary heat to form weld nugget and influence of clamping force on sheet welding. Objectives Design of a jig to ensure cutting of terminal pins at the bridge. Design of a welding mechanism to weld the terminal pins at the bridge into a continuous
