Luke 10: 38-42“
“Seated at the feet of Jesus. An Attitude of Servanthood and Discipleship”
There are times when serving can become a distraction for us. When such occurs you keep your focus on Jesus.
This passage of scripture begins with Jesus and his disciples who were on their journey to Jerusalem and entered into a certain village. In preparing this sermon, I read in Luke 9 verses 51-56 Jesus sent messengers ahead to prepare for him in a Samaritan village, but the Samaritans refused him because he was going to Jerusalem. The Samaritans were Israelites and they were not the best of friends of the Jews at that time. In 2nd Kings 17:24 the Samaritans intermarried with people who were captured by the King of Assyria. The needful thing is the word of God. The word of God teaches us how to live and gives us wisdom that leads us to salvation through faith. The word of God teaches us how to love one another and to live our lives pleasing unto him. The word teaches us how to have a relationship with Jesus through prayer, worship, and devotion. It’s our communication with God. As a result, God will move on our behalf when he hears our voice and when we speak his words. When we take the time to sit at the feet of Jesus, his word gives us directions in life’s complicated roadmap and it will guide us around the roadblocks that are meant to stop us from our purpose and destiny in his word. Therefore, when we sit at the feet of Jesus, we posture ourselves as his disciples to learn of him, resulting in receiving spiritual gifts which are the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, spiritual knowledge, an everlasting name, a new heart and eternal life just to name a …show more content…

When you sit at the feet of Jesus, you will be changed, however, others will not like the new you. Why? You’ve changed who you use to hang out with. You made the word of Jesus your choice and priority in life instead of the world and relationships that would eventually end up in destruction. There will be times when you find it to be a struggle to fit in with people. You will be known for who you are and staying true to your Christian
