For eleven years, my mother was a single parent who raised me. My biological father died before I was born. She basically raised me all alone. My mother always bought me books as a child. Every night we read books like, 'Who am I,' and my favorite, 'Wacky Wednesday,' from beginning to end. Her dedication inspired me to be the person that I am striving for today. She always had a way of showing me her love and care by pushing me towards a successful life. Regardless of the circumstances, she was the one who helped me get to where I am today. This is why I'm determined to go even further in life.
Though she was busy as ever supporting my brother and I, every time we had an event that was big to us, she would do all she could to show up and support us for them. During high school my brother and I were in sports and other things that were important to us, we had very busy schedules. My mother was always there for us, even if she just worked 60 plus hours the week before. One time in high school I was doing the event called solo and ensemble with my solo on the flute.
I have so much love for my mom. Being born into a lovely family with two brothers and a hard working mom that come from the projects and now living in an apartment complex in Manhattan near the New Whitney Museum is beyond an achievement. Being the youngest out of my brothers; each 7 years apart; we were never rich but she made everything work out. During my early years, I wasn’t mostly taken care of by my mom because she worked during the day when I was younger. Because there were parents in the house, I was taking care of other family members. My mom and I still had our moments.
Also, she has always been a good friend to me and I will never stop thanking my mother for what she represents in my life. Moreover, I am glad that my mother is my role model because without her in that place I don’t know for sure if the person I would have followed would be as good as she is in fulfilling this task. Ever since I was a kid my mother has done whatever she could to help me succeed in life. Whenever I needed something or help in school my mother would always help me as much as she could. After my grandparents died in 2009 I became very depressed, also due to religious reasons I didn’t attend school for a while which made me fall back in school. But my mother stayed up late to help me pass all of my exams and talked to my teachers asking for an extension so I could get caught up with my subjects. Many parents would have left their child too study by themselves, but not my mom. I am very fortunate to have a thoughtful parent to push me and help me through difficult times. One of the most important people in my life is my mother. My father passed away when I was 14 years old. My mother took care of me by herself. As I 've grown up, I 've viewed my mom in very different ways. Talking to my niece this weekend, I asked her about her mom. She said, "My mom is special because..." and then she followed it was some really cute reasons that I have long forgotten. I realized that her viewpoint of her mom was very serious to her, and she had some extremely different opinions of why her mother was special than I did.

They are people who someone can look up to for advice in a hard situation, and know that they will give those words of wisdom. They will never judge our past actions, instead only look to help because they really care. A role model is someone who we should never feel awkward talking to about our problems. A perfect role model for me is my mother. She is a wonderful human being. She’s smart, wise, ambitious, patient and such a loving person. When she woke me up on that unforgettable Monday morning, it was my first day in my new school. I was ten years old at the time. My mom sat beside me and paid careful attention as I voiced my fears and uncertainties about my new school and the kind of friends and teachers I was going to encounter. But, after I was done talking, she quietly smiled, placed her right hand on my left shoulders and smiled. She began to encourage me, she motivated me and promised me that everything would be alright. She said all these words with a kind smile, and somehow they worked magic because she just elevated my spirit and seamlessly took my worries away. She took me to school and left me feeling so confident in myself. I have seen her handle situations effortlessly with just a simple smile. She is hardly angry and this makes her even more attractive. My dad on the other hand rarely smiles, so I think my mom’s beautiful smile compliments him. To see my mother smile is a blessing, it is a gift that I am always grateful to God for. Her smile lights up my day, every day. And her smile just happens to be the most beautiful thing in the world amidst the pain, anger and frustration that sometimes irks my daily life.
