Gun control is one of the major issues in the United States and many have different opinions on how to handle the issue. There are two sides of the gun debate: one is gun control and the other is known as the pro-gun rights groups. One side with the approbation of gun control, debates that the U.S. should have stricter regulations, so there would be less crime and violence. The pro-gun rights groups, debates that guns are needed for self-defense and to protect our rights to own guns. The gun control group favors for more gun laws. They want more registration or more licensing to obtain legal ownership of guns. They want to close any loopholes and hinder any illegal ownership of guns. In addition, they believe that guns should not be sold at gun shows because it is being sold by a private seller, and the person purchasing the gun doesn’t need to have a background check. They claim for those who are certified to have guns can use their rights freely and hold a gun with them to be safe. They argue for the people having the right to carry their guns out of their home and anywhere they go to protect themselves and their families from murders and to also protect others at an unexpected crime scene.
According to CNN, “Andrew Jerome Wurst, a 14-year-old middle school student opened fire at a school graduation dance, being held at a local restaurant. The shooter killed one teacher and injured two students and one teacher. The restaurant owner, who grabbed his own shotgun from his office and went after the shooter, apprehended the armed teenager.” Because the restaurant owner had his own gun, he was able to stop the shooter and saved many lives.
