Recommended: Is animal testing useful advantages

A very controversial topic of today’s time is medical testing on animals. Some people believe that it is very wrong because the animals do not have any say in if they want to do it or not. Yet other people say it is better to test products on animals rather than on humans if the products could harm people in any way. Some experiments are so harmful and deathly that we would not even think of performing these dangerous experiments on humans. So why would we perform them on animals?
People who are against animal testing believe that “Humans do not have the right to use animals” (Lin). As humans, we do not experiment on other humans without their consent, with few exceptions. We also would not experiment on someone who was unable to give permission of experimentation, and animals should fit into that category. Most of the time, the experiments that are the most dangerous and we would never think to do on humans are the experiments that we end up doing on animals. There are even …show more content…

“Many medical treatments have been made possible by animal testing, including cancer and HIV drugs, insulin, antibiotics, vaccines and many more” (Murnaghan). They insist that since we can use animal testing to improve the health of people, should we not use what we can to improve it? Even if furthering our health means testing on animals. Others also argue that animal testing does not just help humans. “But animal research hasn't benefited humans alone. Animals also have improved healthcare and a longer lifespan” (“Benefits”). Animal testing has provided cures and vaccines for many animal diseases and health problems. So it aids both animal and human health. Some people believe that since it helps to provide cures for animals, animal testing is helping out its own kind, not just humans.
