Rogers received criticism due to the dramatic images, she had to remove the disturbing part and apologize to Mr. Foley’s family in order to continue showing the ad. Wendy Rogers was marked as an unhuman disrespectful woman which give her a total deteriorating face in her political image. This video was meant to criticize Kyrsten Sinema’s actions by voting in favor to set free Guantanamo Bay prisoners and return them to their country, as a result many of them join ISIS one the most recent national terrorist threats (Lucy Burns Institute). However, Rogers’ spokesman expressed that it is not a norm to attend the debate, and claims that Sinema skipped the event in 2012 (Hendley). Rogers also attacked Kirsten Sinema’s Veteran suicide
Jonathan Kozol revealed the early period’s situation of education in American schools in his article Savage Inequalities. It seems like during that period, the inequality existed everywhere and no one had the ability to change it; however, Kozol tried his best to turn around this situation and keep track of all he saw. In the article, he used rhetorical strategies effectively to describe what he saw in that situation, such as pathos, logos and ethos.
In 102 Minutes, Chapter 7, authors Dwyer and Flynn use ethos, logos, and pathos to appeal to the readers’ consciences, minds and hearts regarding what happened to the people inside the Twin Towers on 9/11. Of particular interest are the following uses of the three appeals.
Nora’s and her hypocrisy, confusion about religion, and his Gran unbalancing the family lead to Jackie’s trap. Nora’s hypocrisy is shown throughout the story. Nora would show her devilish tormenting side to just Jackie because she could use her advantage in knowledge of everything especially religion and confession to torment Jackie. When nobody is around watching her and Jackie walk to the chapel for confession “Nora suddenly changed her tone, she became the raging malicious devil she really was”(178). Then when Nora is in public she shows her angelic side “she walked up the aisle to the side altar looking like a saint”(178). Even though everyone else sees the angelic part of Nora, Jackie “remember[s] the devilish malice with which she had
Samir Boussarhane During the early 20th century in the U.S, most children of the lower and middle class were workers. These children worked long, dangerous shifts that even an adult would find tiresome. On July 22, 1905, at a convention of the National Woman Suffrage Association in Philadelphia, Florence Kelley gave a famous speech regarding the extraneous child labor of the time. Kelley’s argument was to add laws to help the workers or abolish the practice completely.
During the late 1800’s and early 1900’s the fight for equal and just treatment for both women and children was one of the most historically prominent movements in America. Courageous women everywhere fought, protested and petitioned with the hope that they would achieve equal rights and better treatment for all, especially children. One of these women is known as Florence Kelley. On July 22, 1905, Kelley made her mark on the nation when she delivered a speech before the National American Woman Suffrage Association, raising awareness of the cruel truth of the severity behind child labor through the use of repetition, imagery and oxymorons.
Schakowsky is working to deliver to the people of the 9th Congressional District superior services and a voice in congress when dealing with federal agencies. Representing one of the most diverse districts in the nation, Schakowsky immediately took on t

The movie trailer “Rio 2”, shows a great deal of pathos, ethos, and logos. These rhetorical appeals are hidden throughout the movie trailer; however, they can be recognized if paying attention to the details and montage of the video. I am attracted to this type of movies due to the positive life messages and the innocent, but funny personifications from the characters; therefore, the following rhetorical analysis will give a brief explanation of the scenes, point out the characteristics of persuasive appeals and how people can be easily persuaded by using this technique, and my own interpretation of the message presented in the trailer.
Before becoming the Democratic nominee, there was a section of Athena’s district that no candidate ever visited, target them, or even talked to them in a meaningful manner. The most common type of interactions elected officials would have with these groups is sending them literature to their home, but never initiating that direct voter contact. Athena has been a champion of making sure direct voter contact happen on a day-to-day basis in a very strategic move. As a result, there was an increase in voter turnout in the precincts that usually had low voter turnout. While Athena continues to build a relationship with her constituents, she also is educating herself on issues that the state legislature will be advocating for and against. Preparing ahead will allow Athena to recognize certain patterns and themes on how the legislature creates their agenda. A strategic move like this will help her gain some leverage to sponsor certain bills or pass bills that favor her constituents if elected. Her main focus at the moment just builds relationships with her constituents so she can be elected
Our Lady of the Harbour written by Charles de Lint is a contemporary retelling of The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. The illustration is based on the idea of the water and land being two different world; shown by the use of color blocking, where the black and white clash against each other as land and water meet. Plus, the mermaid’s mouth is covered as reference to the story about her losing her beautiful voice as a challenge to enrapture the male lover.
Her staff received a message from Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who uninvited Gabbard to the Las Vegas debate quickly after Gabbard publicly expressed her opinions against Schultz. Gabbard took this as a personal offense, saying “when I signed up to be vice chair of the DNC, no one told me I would be relinquishing my freedom of speech and checking it at the door” (Sainato). Gabbard speaking her mind in the midst of this clear favoritism and corruption is truly patriotic.
The goal of Hillary’s speech is to persuade her audience that her ideas are valid, by using ethos, pathos, and logos. Hillary is the First Lady and Senator, she shows credibility as an influential activist for woman rights. “Over the past 25 years, I have worked persistently on issues relating to women, children, and families. Over the past two and a half years, I’ve had the opportunity to learn more about the challenges facing women in my country and around the world” (Clinton 2).
West Virginia’s voting for state and Congressional representatives have been overwhelmingly democratic since the 1960’s. For example, the late, great Robert C. Byrd was a democratic US Senator from 1959 to 2010. His efforts to bring pork barrel spending and ear marks to benefit his represented citizens was the understood methodology of his incumbency. The West Virginia House of Delegates is current 54 to 46, with Democrats being the majority party. Twenty-eight Democrats and six Republicans (WV Constitution) fulfill the 34 seats in the Senate. The federal representatives of the House and Senate are similar, with incumbent Democrats Jay Rockefeller, and Joe Manchin, as well as two Republican, and one Democratic representative in the House. For my local region of West Virginia, Shelley Moore Capi...
To furthermore express the tone that was developed, Lois Lowry used punctuation. After Jonas’s father was finished with the baby and it was dead, Jonas’s only thoughts were, “He killed it! My father killed it!” (141). By writing the words, “He killed it! My father killed it!” in italics, the author focuses Jonas’s perception on his father as a murderer once he realized that his father had killed the baby, not send it “elsewhere.” The Committee brainwashed citizens into thinking that when one was “released,” it meant that they were going “elsewhere.” Not only was this deceiving, but if the community found out about this, they would question their safety and The Committee; the citizens would view The Committee as a threat and an enemy. When
...n us that filibusters can be effective if you put up a great organized plan. As for Wendy Davis’s filibuster, I believe that it achieved a lot because not only was she able to gain national attention, but she was able to get support from the Democrats in the US Senate, 31 of them whom had signed a letter thanking her for the courage and determination for defeating a bill that would limit women’s rights in Texas. (Walker para 6) Whenever an issue on abortion happens again that’s if it happens again, the women and people from Texas who cared about such bill will remember Wendy Davis’s effort in her 13 hour long filibuster to stop a bill that would have restrictions on abortion and independent choices that these women could have. Davis even stated herself that even if the bill would eventually pass her filibuster still would raise awareness on the issue. (Welsh para 5)
