Volunteer Request Essay

To Whomever It May Concern:
I am Greta Fischer, and I am a current senior at Duluth East High School who has been blessed to live in Duluth for all eighteen years of my life. For the last six of those eighteen years, volunteering has been an important part of my life. I have been volunteering since middle school with my church's youth group, which included performing community service and participating in fundraising for the community. I was also a volunteer at the Lake Superior Zoo for four years, where I worked on a wide variety of tasks from showing animals to the public to creating enrichment for the animals. My largest passion is music, specifically the clarinet. I was a member of the Minnesota All-State Symphonic Band in the summer of 2016, which sparked my love for playing in a wind ensemble. Since then, I have performed in my school's pit orchestra for the productions of both Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. Performing in a pit orchestra is one of the most challenging feats for a musician, but I find it to be incredibly rewarding to combine my love of musical theatre and band. In addition to being a member of my school’s advanced band for three years, I have also performed in numerous local honor bands. I also play the guitar in my school's Jazz I Ensemble, and piano in my free time. I have competed in the local Solo and Ensemble Contest and earned four superior scores through solos and participation in ensembles. I have also held leadership positions in band as a section leader and the band's secretary. I have met my best friends through band, and hope to continue my passion for music by participating in an ensemble of some type while in
