That’s about the entire population of Auckland City. 1.5 million children who died unnecessary and preventable deaths in one year alone, and could have lived if they were vaccinated. Sadly with more and more parents making the decision to not vaccinate, this problem which should have been solved years ago, is becoming a serious issue that threatens the health and safety of people today. Everyone who is physically able to, should be vaccinated and there is absolutely no reason for them not to be. Vaccinations are considered as “one of the greatest medical advances in the last 160 years,” by the British Medical Journal. Many people do not realise how significant and how essential vaccines are for us. The cost of not getting vaccinated and falling ill to the diseases will be much more than the cost of getting vaccinated, which in New Zealand is generally free. Tetanus, measles, and diphtheria are just a few of the vaccines that are offered to citizens of all ages at no charge, by the Ministry of Health. This is obviously a great way for the government to take our money. The amount that will be saved is not small either, vaccinations will save over $151 billion in treatment costs which will benefit the economy immensely. Thats $151 billion that could be used to help further medical science, instead of paying for medicine and resources needed to treat a disease that wouldn’t have been contracted in the first place, if the person had taken fifteen minutes out of their time to get a Due to increasing number of people opting out of vaccinations from misleading and false information, now it is extremely important that we ensure that our safety, and our future generation’s safety is not put in jeopardy. We need to make vaccines a compulsory requirement to everyone, so we can rest easy knowing that millions of children will not die unnecessarily from diseases ever again.
