Has love ever made you go back on your word? Throughout Twelfth Night by Shakespeare, the effect of unrequited love transforms many characters, including Olivia. Out of mourning for her brother’s death, Olivia swears off love and men forever, but her ideas about love change when she meets “Cesario”. But Cesario doesn’t love her because he is actually the character Viola in disguise, and she is in love with Orsino. Throughout Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Olivia’s dialogue shows her transformation from someone avoiding love, to being head over heels in it.
