A fitness component is a simple way of identifying a certain part of a person’s fitness. You are labelling a subset of changes that you want to occur as a component. For example, if a client wants to be faster I’d work on the ‘speed’ component of their fitness. Or if a client wants to get fitter I would focus on ‘stamina’. By having components the person fitness can be analysed and then he/she can focus on developing an area that will best help them meet their goals (ptdirect, 2015). Speed and stamina are a couple of key components in the sport of football.
