• Profound Knowledge is not the same as knowledge
• Materials go to the factory → products come out and go to customers → companies do consumer research → companies do design of product + service and re-design → then it will affects three parts 1) materials; 2) processes; 3) product. As a result, it will improve the process.

Management of a system therefore requires the knowledge of the inter-relationships between all the sub-processes within the system and everybody that works in it.
• Profound Knowledge: A. A system; B. Statistical Theory; C. Theory of knowledge; D. Psychology
• A. Knowledge of A System: 1) the degree of inter-dependence between the component processes may vary from one system to another. 2) Theory of optimization. Management’s job is to optimize the system. And sub-optimization is costly. All activities should be coordinated to optimize the whole system.
• B. Knowledge of Statistical Theory: 1) Some knowledge about variation. Variation there will always be between people, in output in service, in product. 2) Understand of the capability of a process. 3) Knowledge about the different kinds of uncertainty in statistical
