Diabetes is a diseases with many different types, all with no cure. Type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes are the most common types. Diabetes is a disease that affects your pancreas and the insulin making process. There are many similarities between type 1 and type 2, but there are also many differences. Diabetes first encounter was in 1552 B.C. when Hesy-Ra complained of excessive urination, from then on research about diabetes has been more frequent and the treatment has been discovered. Type 1 and type 2 diabetes both have similarities and differences that can affect the health of humans greatly. Type 1 is the most severe, with no cure at all the risks still stand high. They both have no cure, even though type 2 diabetes has treatment options, there is no official cure for either of them. They also both share the same major symptoms which are, Polyuria- excessive urination often due to high blood sugar, Polydipsia- excessive thirst, and Polyphagia- excessive hunger. “In type 2 diabetes, symptoms tend to be more gradual than type 1 but they both still share these symptoms along with the other usual byproducts of diabetes like high and low blood sugar, increased agitation, shaky/sweaty blood sugar reactions, as well as the more severe hypoglycemic events that can lead to seizures, coma, and death. Life-threatening complications can occur from both types of diabetes. Some of those complications include but are not limited to: cardiovascular disease, stroke, kidney failure, amputated limbs, blindness and nerve pain. Blood sugar management is key in preventing or reducing prevalence of diabetes related complications. Both conditions can be fatal if left unmanaged.” (Ruden 1-2). This example clearly points out the facts that both type 1 and type 2 diabetes are very similar in many ways that are very important to the health of the patient. Type 2 diabetes luckily has a treatment available to help and to treat patients who are suffering because of type 2
