1906 was the start of the longstanding feud that later resulted in World War one. In 1914, the war finally broke out between the Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente. The Triple Alliance consisted of Germany, Austria- Hungary and Italy. Britain, France, Russia and Australia (Later on America joined) were then known as the Triple Entente, which was run by the British Empire. There were many factors that led to this war that were short term and long term. This feud still affects us to this day as we learn it to be the history of our world. It shaped so much of the past due to the fact that the majority of the world was involved, meaning the generations around the world will continue learning about it. The development of the war can be told using the acronyms: M.A.I.N, F.a.T B.A.B.A and A.R.S.E, which will be outlined in the following paragraphs. …show more content…

The word comes from the word Military meaning a Country’s armed forces, meaning a militarist was a believer in the military. According to (Resource sheet 1) “The need for Militarism”, the term Militarism was taken by both sides of the alliances during the lead up to World War 1. An example of the development of Militarism would be the Naval Race. The Naval race was a shipbuilding race between Britain and Germany. The Royal Navy at the time was the strongest and most powerful out of the Nations fleets. However Germany started to build ships in 1898 onwards. This race was mostly focused on the magnificent ship the British had created, The Dreadnought. After 1910, Germany decided to focus on something else to do with their army due to not being able to match the British empires Dreadnought ships. The Naval race meant that all countries were working day and night to create armed forces to protect their country.
