French writer Milan Kundera mentioned in his work The Book of Laughter and Forgetting “Totalitarianism is not only hell, but all the dream of paradise-- the age-old dream of a world where everybody would live in harmony, united by a single common will and faith, without secrets from one another.” We have heard about totalitarian systems before, although it is often confused with fascism. Totalitarianisms is the ideology that everyone in an existing society will be the same and treated equally under law and govern of one single political party, creating a balanced perfect harmonious living.

So we might need to control human emotions. All this anger and envy and need for power between nations is getting out of control. Kohn also mentioned in his paper that “according to Ardent the nature of totalitarians is the “combination” of “its essence of terror and its principle of logicality.” But Libria’s system failed because of no use of emotions How about a system of government that is based on people’s emotions and personality? But there is one thing to keep in mind, choosing a faction was choosing a new family. Like Tris, the main character of the story, her parents were Abnegations, she grew up in this faction, but she chose to be Dauntless, which would mean her parents were nothing related to her except DNA. Your personality is what would keep this society stable and going. In my opinion, this is an almost perfect society; it system was nearly flawless. Even though this was not a totalitarian system, it has resemblance to one because only one party governs, Abnegation, even though there are 4 other parties. But as every other system, there is a flaw that brings this system
