Tooling U introduced me to many of the potential possibilities within the Industrial Technology industry. Before taking this class I felt that I did not completely understand what my major entailed. I understood the basics of what Industrial Technology and Packaging offered, but I did not fully realize all of the endless possibilities related to it. The key concepts that I studied throughout this course consisted of; Abrasives, Additive Manufacturing, Adhesives, CNC, Electrical Systems, Fasteners, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Inspection, Manual Machining, Materials, Metal Cutting, Quality, Robotics, Safety, Shop Essentials, Supervisor Essentials and Welding. Since I am a Lean Team Student Assistant for Dr. Olsen, who focuses on the methodology of Lean, these courses strengthened my already existing knowledge while still offering additional information. In addition, these courses were especially engaging since I am leaning towards concentrating in Operations. By taking these courses I was able to gain a greater understanding of how to apply industrial decisions in support of business goals and make actions become more efficient when it comes to production and supply chain. As well as, how certain standardizations were created by OSHA and ISO 9000 to help maintain a safe and efficient workspace. Another very useful course department was shop essentials. The information taught from these courses can easily be applied the ITP lab sections such as ITP 260 and ITP 341! More over, this course helped prepared me for the ITP capstone course 467 by expanding my knowledge on how to create and produce certain products. As well as what technical manufacturing processes and important business decisions I should be using and making to be successful in that
