Tracing all the way back to the start of the government it was always known for the need to have structured power in the government in order for things to run smoothly. It was never an option for one particular group or person to run the whole government knowing that big problems could stem from that. So the delegates wanted to divide the federal government powers into different branches to create balance. This balance that would be created would leave no room for a dictatorship to flourish or a tyrant form of government to begin. The vice president is also part of the executive branch and officer of the Senate also next in line to take over the presidency if something were to happen. In order to be the head of the executive branch the qualifications to become president include being the age of thirty-five and up, a natural born citizen as well as being in residency for fourteen of more years. Just to keep balance and have new ideas from new presidents so that America can advance, the term limit is two and each being four years long. The president’s duty is to enforce the laws that are created by the congress in the constitution under Article two, “commanding him to also pick the leaders for the federal agencies”. These federal agencies as well as the cabinet run the daily duties of enforcing and administering the laws. The president also has others powers, he is allowed to put into actions such as signing and negotiating treaties so that the executive branch can conduct diplomacy with other nations. Another power he has is the ability to extend pardons and clemencies for federal law and can also issue executive orders. It makes up fifteen different departments that were approved by the Senate. These members are the president’s top advisors and run the fifteen executive departments that each have their own certain duties to uphold. The top members have a secretary title such as secretary of education excluding the Justice Departments head that is called the attorney general. At any time the president can choose to remove any of the cabinet members since their job plays a huge role in running the country and the best members need to be in power alongside him. The fifteen departments include department of State, Treasury, Defense, Justice, Interior, Agriculture, Commerce, Labor, Health and Human services, housing and urban development, Transportation, Education, Energy, Veteran affairs and Homeland security. Each of these departments plays an important role and just to name a few and their duties to show how important a role they play. The department of State has a duty to develop foreign policy and advance freedom. The department of treasury is there to collect revenue, produce money and create economic policy. The department of Defense protects the people of the United States by providing military force. The department of Justice prevents and controls the crime.
