Of the billions of humans that have lived throughout history, there are a few whose names still have an impact today. These great pioneers provide lessons from which everyone can benefit. Their lives are inscribed in books, and from these their knowledge and experiences can be disseminated to the masses. Therefore, there is value into reading about the lives of others because from it treacheries can be discovered, awareness of inequality can be spread, inspiration can be found, and advice can be received. The first reason for the value in reading about people is that treachery can be discovered and something can be done about it. Although in America and other developed nations equality is a right, there remain places where different people are denied rights based on their race and sex. One woman named Malala Yousafzai did not allow this to hinder her education, and for it, she was shot in the head. Malala used this near-death opportunity to write a book titled I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban in her book she advocates for the belief that education is a right of all humans. Malala achieved great fame, and with it, she has been able to inform hundreds of millions of people about the inequality women face in Islamic and Middle Eastern countries. Many of today’s great leaders and innovators came from the worst places, but they were able to overcome their disadvantages and succeed. A great example is the Brazilian soccer player Pele. Pele was born extremely poor in the favelas of Brazil (shanty towns), he went from playing with mangos on the streets to becoming what many consider the greatest soccer player of all time with a record 3 world cups. Pele demonstrated that through hard work and commitment success could be achieved. If it were not for Pele some of the best soccer players playing right now would still be living in slums.
