The Mexican Independence and the Venezuela Crisis have some things in common. Both historical events have short and long term effects. Both of these events were also influenced by ethical beliefs. The similarities between The Mexican Independence and the Venezuela Crisis are not many. Both historical events have a great impact in their own way. The Mexican Independence was about how the Mexican’s wanted their Independence from Spain because they were being treated badly. In the Venezuela Crisis the government is not doing anything to help better their situation they are just making it worse. Both of these historical events share something in common which is that in the Mexican independence they were not treated well and in the Venezuela Crisis the government is making things worse for them. Both of these events have problems that they are trying to solve. The Mexican Independence event was about people who wanted to be free and have their independence from Spain. The people in Venezuela are starving and dying because they don't have food. Venezuela is struggling with shortages of food,and medicine. Venezuela’s economy mostly depends on their oil.Oil prices have dropped and that has affected Venezuela. The food crisis is bad because in grocery stores there is no food so there is specific days people have to line up. What does the president of the U.S. mean to you? What does it mean to have the title “President”? Is there an extra sense of obligation or authority to that name? It has been known that a few presidents in particular did not live up to the expectations associated with the presidency title. One of them was named Porfirio Diaz and he is the number one cause of the Mexican revolution. When is decades long rule over Mexico was challenged he got his framed an innocent man and sent him to prison. This man eventually called for a revolution against the president. The people had been ready for years and this is just what they needed; the revolution had begun. The Mexican revolution was an extremely bloody conflict between the people of Mexico and the presidents they had to live under.
A quest for independence led to the Texas Revolution and the American Revolution. Colonist from both wars fostered resentment against of their governing body, the Texans against the Mexican authorities and the Americans colonist against the British monarchy. Although both revolutions led to independence, they similarly started with a call for reform from their governing body. Fears from the Mexican and British governments over losing control led to regulations which left the colonists with a sense of inequality. Some comparable similarities exist among both revolutions suspicions, and views on slavery are some of the most noted factors that led to the Texas Revolutions. Now, the Mexican Revolution was just a small beginning for the eventual state of Texas. Back in 1809, Texas was just a provenance in the Spanish Empire and its inhabitants were mostly converted Native Americans and people of Spanish descent, but not native born of Spain. The Spanish born people had more rights and were, according to the law, superior to all others. This and more oppression by the Spanish against the Mexicans (i.e. the Native Americans and non-Spanish born), caused an uprising by the common people that was started by a Catholic priest in 1809. It would take 16 more years before Mexico had won its independence from Spain like the US had from Great Britain.
On July 14th, 17189, a shot was heard around the world: the Bastille had been stormed. Propelled by Enlightenment ideas, a rigid class system, and resentment with the monarchy, on this day the French decided to take matters in their own hands. In the next three years, the French overthrew their monarch and established a government and constitution that promised equal rights for all. As the saying goes, history repeats itself. So was the case in Latin America. By 1810, revolutionary fervor had spread to Venezuela. The revolution here was caused by similar reasons. As a colony of Spain, Venezuela did not have a representational government or equality for all its citizens. Peninsulares, or European-born Spaniards, held all the important governmental positions. Like the nobility in France, Peninsulares did not have to pay taxes. Their children (as long as they were also born in Europe), had many educational opportunities. Below the peninsulares were the creoles, or Venezuelans of Spanish descent. Creoles owned much of the land, but they were considered inferior to the peninsulares. Like the bourgeoisie in France, creoles had to pay high taxes and were subject to strict regulation. Creoles were disappointed in what they saw as social and political inequality, and desired to obtain self-representation in the government. At first hesitant, creoles declared their independence amid the weakening of the Spanish crown and the spread of the Enlightenment ideas. The Venezuelan Revolution was influenced by the French Revolution by the spread of Enlightenment ideas, social inequality, the discontent of creoles, and their desire to gain independence from France and form a new democratic government.
The movement for independence in Texas started when Mexican president Anastasio Bustamante, on April 6, 1830, forced new laws upon Texans to increase the population of Mexican citizens and decrease the population of American settlers. Bustamante prohibited further immigration to Texas by Americans. He also revoked the property tax law, which allowed immigrant settlers to avoid paying taxes for a full ten years, and increased the tariffs on goods exported from the United States. If that hadn’t already angered the Texans, Bustamante demanded that the settlers abide with the federal prohibition against slavery. Although the Mexican revolution ended shortly after, Mexico is still fighting for their rights from the government. Even today the Mexican army is killing there own people and then taking their land just like the government did in the 1800’s. This is just the begging of another revolution in Mexico. Porfirio Diaz and the Mexican revolution had a huge impact on the country of Mexico that is still felt in some places today.
There were a few main points that led up to the Latin American independence movement. In, 1797 the Britain blockade of Spain took place for two years, which cut off resources and revenues for the country. In doing so, Britain had almost proved to Mexico that they could survive on their own in the New World without Spain. About 10 years later in 1808, Spain was in serious trouble with France and Napoleon Bonaparte had taken over Spain and appointed his brother King of Spain. From 1806 to 1826 most of the Latin countries under Spanish rule fought for their independence. The reason that caused these countries to have courage to fight for independence was because in 1808 Napoleon was able to invade and conquer Spain. Examples of those countries are Venezuela and Chile. There are similarities in the ways in which these two countries fought for their independence but there are also some differences in how they fought. Some of the leaders who were involved in the Venezuela’s fight for independence were Simon Bolivar, Francisco de Miranda and Antonio José de Sucre. The Venezuelan fight for independence against the Spanish empire began in 1811 and finally ended in 1823. The Venezuelan war was done in different phases, which began with Francisco de Miranda.
During the 1800s there were many revolutions that caused fighting and disagreement in Europe and Latin America. Many brave countries stood up to the mother country to fight the vicious battle for independence. One of the many countries fighting for independence was Haiti. Haiti was trying to get independence from France. In 1804 Saint Domingue declared their independence and named the new nation. Another country fighting for the battle of independence was Mexico. Mexico fought hard with Spain to gain their independence. There was a dispute between the mexicans because some did not want to fight against Spain and just stay a part of their nation and government. Miguel Hidalgo made the first public call for Mexican Independence in 1821. In document 5 there is a painting and all the people of Mexico are taking part in the movement for independence no matter what color they are. The people are taking pride in their country and beliefs by holding up signs and following Father Miguel Hidalgo.

Venezuela was one of the richest countries that emerged from the collapse of Gran Colombia in 1830 (the others being Colombia and Ecuador). For most of the first half of the 20th century, Venezuela was ruled by generally benevolent military strongmen, who promoted the oil industry and allowed for some social reforms. Democratically elected governments have held sway since 1959. Current concerns include: a polarized political environment, a politicized military, drug-related violence along the Colombian border, increasing internal drug consumption, overdependence on the petroleum industry with its price fluctuations, and irresponsible mining operations that are endangering the rain forest and indigenous peoples.
So, basically, it was the Americans invading Mexican territory, and the Mexicans were just defending themselves from the invading settlers. The Mexicans were also angered by the annexation of Texas, which used to be a part of Mexican territory. The outcome of this war was that, Americans made huge land gains and got tons of raw resources which paved the road to its future power and prosperity. America gained almost all of the land it has now, except for Alaska and Hawaii. The raw resources made industrialization easier and the land increased agriculture, it also increased slaves, because there were more plantations, which needed more slaves.
Food shortages, high inflation rates, protest, and violence: one sees these headlines in a Google search of Venezuela today. All around the country, there are long lines to buy simple necessities, like bread and milk. High inflation rates lead to shortages of food supplies, which increase frustration leading to protests in the streets and, sadly, an increase of violence. The protests and violence result from the inability of Venezuelans to provide the most basic human needs for their families. Sky-rocketing inflation rates in Venezuela are the result of Hugo Chavez, the former socialist and revolutionary leader of the country, and his administration. While in power, Chavez was so consumed with fixing the social issues in Venezuela, that other aspects of the country were ignored – like the economy. In 2014, Venezuela is left with a destroyed economy, angry people, and a government that is trying to fix the many issues the country currently faces; although the government is committed to finding solutions, the people of Venezuela do not feel the government is fixing the problems fast enough.

Venezuela is a country full of beauties and contrasts where people can find beautiful beaches, plains, mountains, and even the majestic highest waterfall of the world (Angel Falls). Also, oil rich nation, one of the upper 10 exporting countries worldwide. During more than four decades, this country lived in full democracy until 1999, when a former military officer, who was involved in a military coup years ago, Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias won the presidential elections, and who remained in the government until he died in 2013 from cancer.
