One of the many problems that we seem to be having is the amount of No Kill Shelters in America. No kill Shelters are shelters in which the animals there are not treated like the “pound” or “dog house.” These shelters do not kill healthy or treatable animals and even if they are not treatable they reserve euthanasia for them as the last resort to trying to save the animals. However, many understand that these some of these dogs can be a menace to society, but every single animal should be able to live. We do not have many of these in this country or if we do we are use the animals for the testing of some of our products. One of the many benefits of No Kill Shelters is the promotion of adopting dogs. Many people do not adopt dogs but they go to breeders which is not a bad idea, but we have many dogs that get killed in pounds every day. Some of these reasons can include the management of the shelters, the locations of the shelters, and what happens on the inside. The management of these shelters should be monitored by someone of a higher standpoint which should be the case with all of the shelters. The locations of some of these shelters could be just put in a bad part of the United States. These locations can make the people not want to adopt from these shelters. Some of the issues that happen in the no-kill shelter like neglect and treating the animals wrong have recently surfaced in the news. Americans have been debating the morality of euthanizing animals for decades, including an impassioned argument about the quickness to kill the Pit Bull breed. Advocates that support euthanization of pit bulls use their aggression and danger to justify the killings. The perception of danger is not based in reality, but rather comes from media exposure. Most pit bulls do not exhibit aggressive behavior and those that do are trained to do so by irresponsible owners. Euthanization is disproportionately higher for pit bulls, and similar breeds, despite a lack of evidence that they are more aggressive than other dogs. Euthanization of pit bulls is not justified because pit bulls are not naturally aggressive, have an inaccurate reputation from media coverage, and do not present any greater danger than other dog breeds that are euthanized at lower rates.
Everyone loves puppies. Adjectives like cute, cuddly, adorable, and innocent are used to describe them. Sadly, the way they come into this world can be described as nothing short of ugly, premeditated and negligent. There are those who treat “man’s best friend” as though they were man’s worst enemy. Those people are in the business of manufacturing puppies by the millions, for millions. These particular manufacturing facilities they own and run are called “puppy mills”, where dogs and puppies are forced to live in the most inhumane, despicable conditions, far greater than prisoners of war or the worst criminals in our nation’s prisons have endured, causing inevitable high mortality rates. Of the six million puppies bred in puppy mills in the US annually, four to five million of them don’t survive. Everyday, eleven thousand cute, cuddly, adorable, and innocent puppies die due to these ugly, premeditated and negligent breeding procedures. Puppy mills should be shut down and made illegal until such time that strict laws are put into place to control and enforce humane breeding and living conditions, protecting the welfare of these dogs, and drastically lessening their mortality rate and the way puppy mill owners make their living.
Killing and disposing of animals because there is no room available for them is unnecessary and inhumane. A shelter is usually a place where something or someone is offered protection and refuge. But what happens when a shelter does the exact opposite of giving something protection? Sadly this happens to various animals each year that are brought to Kill Shelters. It’s really not up to the courts or government to determine what is good for a human life. It crazy how they will put an animal down for not having a home or attacking a human being. Do we give animals a choice on their lives? No, we do not we just do what we think is best for that animal. Many people fail to realize a lot of things. They always say if it was me I wouldn’t want that for myself. In all respect no one really knows what they want if they was in that position. As for me I would rather die than to have my family and love one see me like that at all. This is why its best to have a living will with a breakdown of everything you want to happen for each possible way an accident can occur.

One Green Planet says that there are still more than 70 million needy animals, only around 6-8 million enter shelters, and only about 20% adopt their pets from a shelter. Such a small percentage but there are still many animals getting put down. One of the main reasons I am against animal breeding is because most of the animals who get bought end up getting abandoned, which is why the number of strays increase. Like I said, why should anyone bring more animals (cats and dogs) into this world when there are more than enough in a local shelter waiting for their forever homes?

The closest animal shelter is in Eden NC. People do not need to waste gas money to go that far when we can have one in Madison. It would be a more convenient way for people to build the community stronger and to bring pets that are in need. If people would care just about aninals as much as they do with recycling in this world, people could put a stop to pet overpopulation.
