Stand back and observe how this new craze is taking society by storm. It is basically on every street corner, school yard, as well as in every household; people can even find it on the job. Researchers still can’t determine if this substance harm or help the human body. Many citizens who support marijuana legalization believe it would reduce arrest or felonies and provide health benefits. Marijuana is bluntly a hallucinogenic substance. We are not in the stone age. Treatments exist to control nausea, glaucoma, and movement disorders. People may argue that it is an organic substance which is true for the most part, but marijuana is not always presented in its natural state. There are many factors that can go wrong when purchasing marijuana, making it illegal for doctors to prescribe this to patients. Doctors can only recommend the substance, which is rarely done. Chemicals are used to grow marijuana, which cause it to be contaminated and sometimes dangerous. The burden of having to figure out if different chemicals such as cocaine, LSD, meth, PCP, and others are too much to go through for a substance. For nausea one can simply take Pepto-Bismol. Glaucoma can be treated with anti-glaucoma medicines. Movement disorders can be treated with therapy. There’s no true use for marijuana. People should not serve jail time for being in possession of the substance, but should be fined accordingly. Marijuana legalization must not be focused on the central government. Instead, it should be about self-health. The side effects of the substance are addictive. It may consume and effect relationship with your family and friends. The mission for marijuana legalization groups has been lost. This drug doesn’t benefit the body in a healthy way. Society is more concerned about ‘not receiving jail time’ or ‘lower fines’ but is missing the bigger picture; research and facts. When the facts are stated it is obvious, it would be dangerous to legalize marijuana. Marijuana legalization would bring further more crime, government taxes, and addiction to the younger generation. It has been proven to have harmful effects through research trials. Therefore, the hallucinogenic substance should remain illegal.
