Should Marijuana be Legal for all the States? In 2012, Colorado took a bold move and declared that Cannabis, also know as Marijuana or weed, is legal to buy for people 21 and over. Washington followed Colorado's footsteps and legalized weed, too. These actions are sparking questions if Colorado and Washington made the right choice. Should all states legalize weed or not? Initially, the United States is split into two sides. Those sides are people that want Marijuana legalized and those that don't. Legalizing marijuana has its pros if it is used to benefit the medical field, but there are cons in overusing and abusing it. Surprisingly, weed is a lot more helpful than you might think. It has many benefits when it comes to medical treatments and care. Weed could be used to help cancer chemotherapy, aids, pains and muscle spasms, glaucoma, and asthma. Marijuana can help with common illnesses,too. It can reduce vomiting, help open up your lungs for people with trouble breathing, and it can help you gain control over your bladder and bowels ("Marijuana Today"). Besides physical illnesses, Marijuana can take part in helping mental ones as well. Many girls today, in our corrupt society, struggle with eating disorders that make them anorexic, or too skinny. When a girl gets anorexic, they starve themselves, so they can lose weight. After a while, they can get under a certain weight that can be very unhealthy to their body. These unhealthy side effects include seizures, irregular heartbeats, dehydration, and osteoporosis. Although, a benefit of marijuana is that it increases food intake. It makes you really hungry. There are also different way to consume and use it. Even though this is an "innocent" drug, it can have many unhealthy side effects for the body and mind. Several states made the choice to make it legal and others didn't. Ultimately, it is your choice to whether you want to use this drug or not. Although, before you do, make sure it doesn't go against your morals or what you believe you should be doing. Also, make sure you look into not just the positives, but the negative effects as well.
