The use of social media has become more popular over the past couple of decades. People spend a significant amount of their lives on the internet, whether it’s shopping, using social networking, or simply just sending an email. With the advances in technology, people are becoming less social. This is occurring throughout the world and is growing into a much larger problem than we may realize.

Years ago, when there was no internet, people had to find their own ways to communicate. They would write letters or walk and meet each other in person. People are never their complete self on social media, which has led to countless shallow relationships. It’s hard to get to know people without having a face-to-face conversation with them. Numerous amounts of people hide behind their computers and speak falsely about themselves or another person. Cyberbullying is something that almost everyone has been affected by. Endless amounts of people are disrespectful to people over the computer, but are nice to that person face-to-face. It's heartbreaking to see this happening, but it is a huge problem that our society faces today. If we could get people to get off their computers and start using face-to-face communication, our society would be much more enjoyable.
