China’s one child policy ought to be terminated because of the violation of women’s reproductive rights, human rights, and its negative effect on China’s current and future economic growth. Since the establishment of the one child policy there have been many who have accepted and also denied the conditions of the policy. From learned testimonies, statistics of the wellbeing of those involved, and research conducted, people have learned that the policy provides China with more harm than justice for the society. Therefore, due to the harm it places on society and because of the negative impact the policy places on children, women, and even men, the government’s attempts to over control their citizens lives ought not to be justified. One occurrence that baffles those not living in a society is how China encountered their rapid growing population, beginning the start of the one child policy. Over 30 years ago, the Chinese government established the one child policy. The policy was the result of the former Chairman of the Chinese Communist Party, Mao Zedong’s, failures which had led to man-made famine leading into the death of over 30 million citizens. Research over the past few years have proven that because of the one child policy, China has seen an increase in its crime rate.
