The first nuclear weapon was made during the years 1941 – 1945 by The Manhattan Project, which was the code name for the United States' concealed organization to acquire atomic artillery for use in military action, it was a panoramic duty for the people, geographic locations and assets involved in atomic investigation during World War II. It was titled after the Manhattan Engineer U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, because much of the early investigation was done in New York City. Flickered by refugee physicists in the United States, the program was slowly arranged after nuclear fission was revealed by German scientists in 1938, and many U.S. scientists spoke out their fear that Hitler would attempt to build a nuclear fission weaponry. Nuclear fission is a nuclear reaction in which a heavy nucleus splits spontaneously or on impact with another particle, with the release of energy.
