The Leader in All of Us

A leader is someone who leads a group, organization or country. Furthermore, a good leader is someone who has the ability to lead people effectively using only their positive leadership qualities. The novel Lord of the Flies illustrates that everyone possesses a variety of positive leadership qualities, as is evident through Jack, Ralph, Simon, and Piggy's different leadership qualities.
A few positive leadership qualities Jack possesses are qualities such as bravery, authoritativeness and dedication. Jack illustrates bravery when he grabs a hold of the boar and risks getting wounded. The dedication Jack exhibits is apparent throughout the novel by the way he dedicates his time to finding meat for the helpless boys. Lastly, Jack's authoritativeness is depicted when the boys and littuns all obey his orders. Jack's authoritativeness is apparent when he says “Go on!” and the two savages respond together by saying “The chief has spoken” (155). These lines demonstrate that the two savages think highly of Jack and respect his authority. To conclude, Jack Merridew possesses many positive leadership qualities that would make him an effective leader of the group of lost and scared boys.
Some positive leadership qualities Ralph possesses that make him a constructive leader are qualities such as optimistic, resourceful and orderly. For instance Ralph is illustrates being resourceful due to the fact he used the conch as a device for communicating and keeping order. Ralph illustrates being orderly through keeping the group organized by calling meetings and set rules in place. Lastly, Ralph exhibits being optimistic when he tells the boys that they need to create a fire so a ship may see the smoke and rescue him. Moreover, all the boys give u...

...o prove that Simon has innate goodness because he helps the littluns get fruit, not because he wants them to worship him, but instead he does it because it is the right thing to do. Simon is a righteous leader who possesses positive leadership qualities such as innate goodness, insightful and helpful.
Jack, Ralph, Piggy and Simon all have diverse positive leadership qualities and would lead a group differently, but overall they all have a potential to be a positive leader. Some may say that not everyone is cut out to be a leader, but absolutely everyone has positive leadership qualities and the potential to lead a group. In conclusion through Jack, Ralph, Piggy and Simon`s positive leadership qualities it is evident that everyone possesses a variety of positive leadership qualities.
