Star Wars has been sweeping the nation for over forty years now. Adults and children are obsessed with the space family, The Skywalkers, saga. The newest film introduced into the second trilogy, The Last Jedi, has made over 1.32 billion dollars globally since it opened in December 2017 (Forbes). Although there have been many bad reviews, in my opinion The Last Jedi was one of the best films in the franchise, besides The Empire Strikes Back. The reasoning behind why I think this is because of the way the movie connects with the other movies in the saga. Luke refuses to help Rey because he believes that he is no help and is set to die alone on the island. After days of following and convincing him, Rey finally gets to have a training session. As they are in the process of training, Luke discovers that Rey is more powerful than he thought. Rey is not only strong with the light side of the force but is also strong with the dark side. This scares Luke because he has “seen this raw strength before, it didn’t scare me then. It does now” (The Last Jedi). This event is important to the story because all throughout the movie characters have this mindset that Luke is the last Jedi and the only hope for the Resistance, when this isn’t true at all. Rey at the end of the movie is seen lifting thousand of big boulders with the force. This takes a lot of strength and is something not many Jedi can do. This proving that Rey is strong with the force and is capable of carrying on the traditions of the ways of the
