Strategic planning identifies current and future human resources needs for an organization to achieve its goals. Human resources planning should serve as a link between human resources management and the overall strategic plan of an organization. When elaborating strategic plans, the management team has to make sure that the plans for each of the resources are developed in synchronicity with each other. This is due to the fact that the resources are interdependent of one another. This means that the outcome of whatever is arranged and acted upon with one resource will have an impact on the plans of another resource. Strategic planning is done at management's highest levels to meet long-term objectives and short term objectives. It needs to be flexible in order to adjust to changes in the business environment.
