Environment brings about certain behaviours and constrains others. (Refer to communication textbook on the masks we put on). According to Duncan, Bowman, Naidoo, Pillay, & Roos (2013, p. 105) "communities also adapt in different ways to maintain their functioning through generating social rules, structures and beliefs. This principle creates an awareness and acceptance of diversity in human behaviour." The intervention will require massive participation from the community and the community members will be required to adapt their resources to cater for everyone. People of different races live in the same suburbs but never interact. People of different races are neighbours but know nothing about each other. They pass one another as if they live in different worlds. 6.1.4 Succession Hopefully this intervention will allow the environment to change. The community will move into truly embracing diversity. Duncan, Bowman, Naidoo, Pillay, & Roos (2013, p. 105) suggests that history may play a part in the way that a community adapts to new situations. It has to be noted that all South Africans share the same history. It is time to move from it into the new democracy instead of democracy being a word used to make people feel better in the mist of all the chaos. 7.
