Time is defined as “the measured or measurable period during which an action, process, or condition exists or continues” or as “ a nonspatial continuum that is measured in terms of events which succeed one another from past through present to future” (Jejunum, 2003). It is the seconds, minutes, hours that pass by. Time is both the substantial and miniscule moments that pass by. It is not just what is displayed on a clock; it is the nature of human existence (Jejunum, 2003). Time exhibits the innate quality of selfishness in humans. Everyone wants more time; but time is one of the few things mankind has yet to defeat. Living a healthy lifestyle is a proven way to increase the longevity of one’s lifespan. The foundations of a healthy lifestyle includes maintaining a nutritional diet, exercising, participating in positive behaviors like a limited alcohol intake and refusing to smoke, and getting the appropriate amount of rest (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2008). Lock & Belza (2016) state, “Adopting healthy living is essential to improving overall health of the aging population, reducing complications in late life, and reducing attendant healthcare and long-term-care costs” (p. 58).
