Maintaining a Healthy Lifestyle
In the United States over seventy percent of adults are considered to be overweight. Maintain a healthy weight. "Determine whether you are overweight by checking your body mass index. If you are overweight, it can lead to a higher risk of chronic disease such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke and certain cancers."(How) Although the price of a burger is going down the prices of salads goes up. The fast food industry grows daily so while more jobs are being provided more and more people die from a heart attack. "Often a result of unhealthy eating habits and increased weight gain. Dietary habits established in childhood often carry into adulthood" (The importance) As a culture we know that cheating is wrong so why do we cheat our diets or our work outs. We often make new year resolutions but often give up shortly a couple days later, why? To achieve a healthy lifestyle all you have to do is look at the big picture, plan ahead, maintain a healthy diet, and exercise.
There are twenty four hours in one day yet often times we feel like we don't have enough time to get everything done. As humans we come up with excuses on why we can't do things. A lot of feel like we just don't have enough time to go workout, but did you know research shows you’re more likely to get more done after working out, than if you don't work out at all. People that take time for exercise on a regular basis are more productive and have more energy throughout the day. We often take time out of our day and invest our time and money into some sort of "energy boosting" product when we have the cheaper and more effective solution the outdoors....

You might be thinking " I'm already in pretty good shape, but I do wanna build more muscles". Anaerobic exercises are a great way to build muscles and put on mass. Anaerobic exercise is an exercise intense enough to trigger lactic acid formation. It is used by athletes in non-endurance sports to promote strength, speed and power and by body-builders to build muscle mass. During short, intense exercise, our body demands more oxygen than it is available, so it depends on energy that is stored in the muscles. That is the key for its role in any fitness program. Anaerobic exercise is not meant to burn off fat you need oxygen for that its main role is to build strong muscles. It is much better at building overall strength and muscle mass. Anaerobic exercise will also increase the maximum amount of oxygen you use during exercise, improving your cardio.
This chapter gives various social and biological reasons for the growing world-wide health concern of obesity. Name them and views - why is the reality of weight for most people so far from the cultural or societal ideal?
It is natural for a society to be concerned for the future generations. With the rate of obesity growing in adults and children, many begin to see it as an issue that needs to be addressed. New reports show “ childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years” (cdc.gov). Overweight and obese are not actually the same. Overweight is defined as “having excess body weight for a particular height from fat,” and obesity is defined as “having excess body fat” (cdc.gov). With obesity comes the chance for cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Both can be
Obesity is a serious epidemic that majority of Americans face. The dangerous of obesity should not be taken lightly and addressed admittedly. However, the big question is how or why do some individuals stay skinny or become fat. The movie Weight of The Nations, Part 2: choice helps us explore this unanswered question to give us a better understanding of how this problem has gotten so out of control. This movie targets the obese society in America. This documentary uses scientist to research and address techniques to help people prevent weight gain and loss unhealthy weight. Most Americans want quick fixes to this problem, but have to realize big changes take time, but offer big results. Over all, the idea is to get people motivated by positive results to live a healthier live style.
According to the USDA, at the start of century 21st American people have increased their daily caloric intake by consuming five hundred calories more than in 1970. As cited by Whitney & Rolfes (2011), there are many recognized causes of obesity such as genetics, environment, culture, socioeconomic, and metabolism among others; but the cause most evident is that food intake is higher than the calories burned in physical activity. Excess of energy from food is stored in the body as fat causing an increase of weight. During the course of the last 40 years, obesity has grown enormously in the United States and the rates remain on the rise (pgs. 272-273).
When talking about health, if people is able to visualize what is good (healthy) and what is bad for health, they will choose the option that does not harm them.
According to healthpromotion.ie healthy eating is about having a balance diet that contains all different types of foods from each food group. When eating the right amounts of food from each food group you get all the nutrients you need to stay healthy and have a good healthy weight. There is six main food groups that are recommended to have daily:
Many folks who become obese are people who abuse the calories their body needs on a daily diet. As stated in “Overweight and Obesity Statistics”, everyone body needs a certain amount of energy from foods to have a proper balance. If the calories you have eaten sum up to the amount of calories you have used or have not burnt, you will start to have a problem if this eating habit continues. You will now be in the stage of overweight, if you do not burn the extra calories you consumer. In March 2004 the CDC publishes a study showing that poor eating habits and lack of exercise were the second leading death in the Untied States (“Chronology”). For example, one major reason why people become obese in America is because the environment is full of fast food restaurants. If you look to your left you will see McDonald’s, you look to your right, and you see Jack in The Box, you look behind you and there is Carl’s Jr, and if you look in front of you and you see a Burger King. According to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, “17% of children and adolescents (aged 2-19) are obese. The prevalence of obesity in America has risen dramatically over the past two decades and continues to increase” (qtd. “Weight Control and Diet”). You see these places all over the place and not to mention food advertising is a big cause for obesity. According to What Causes Overweight
You’ve probably heard the old saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” plenty of time. We’re constantly reminded of the importance of healthy nutrition and healthy eating guides are everywhere. But have you ever stopped to think why eating healthy foods can result to fewer doctor visits? Can you actually prevent disease by focusing more on the foods you eat? Here are a few examples of how you can prevent disease by being more mindful of the foods you eat.
Healthy living is a change not everyone is willing to do. Even with small replacements in your daily life, you can start to see big changes in how your body starts working. Maintaining a healthy life style can benefit your life in many ways. Being healthy can improve your bodies ability to stand against infections or diseases. It can also aid in giving you more energy, as well as helping you sleep better. Another advantage to keeping a healthy life style is you'll be stronger, and feel better about the way your body feels. Despite the overly expensive food or the pricey monthly bills from the gym you hardly go too, simple steps can assist you in living a long healthy life without the extra effort.
There is no aspect of your life that is not influenced by what types of foods you eat. When you choose to eat healthy foods, especially vegetables, there are a number of positive outcomes one will come across. Vegetables have lots of vitamins and minerals that the body needs for optimal performance, including a high concentration of antioxidants, fibre, and other essential proteins that the body needs in order to carry out its daily bodily functions. Fruits and Vegetables are some of the best sources of vitamins, minerals, and disease-fighting foods out there (Mahima et al,. 2013), so when one totally disregards vegetables you are not only going to be less healthy but there are many negative side effects one might take on. Lack of energy, weight gain, possible disease, and depressed mood are only a few negative side effects of not eating vegetables and healthy foods. Your body will lack the essential vitamins and minerals it needs in order to carry out its internal and external functions, thus leading to one feeling chronically fatigued and to a point where a nap is needed. Furthermore, the sugars and fats in highly processed foods will lead one on the path of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and feeling chronically fatigued. In the present paper, it will discuss how eating healthier foods will increase ones physical performance, both in the gym and in extracurricular activities such as sports. Food powers your life. It is hypothesized that eating healthier foods will not only increase your mood, bodily functions and physical performance but also make you feel, look and be healthier. The following literature review will attempt to demonstrate and support the fact that when one has a healthier diet, it does not only lead to...

Any individual that leads a healthy lifestyle will say that healthy living is more than just a fad or goal, it’s a way of life. Changing certain aspects of one’s current lifestyle to become healthier is not the final goal, rather, the objective of setting these short and long term goals is maintenance. Therefore, I choose to change an aspect of my current lifestyle that I felt would facilitate the improvement of my health and would later become a change that I can maintain over the course of my life; I choose to increase the amount of water I drink per day to improve my inner bodily health. I decided on this change because I feel that setting a smaller goal that I could easily monitor and execute will expedite future changes to my lifestyle,
A very good afternoon to the lecturer and my beloved course mates. It really gives me great pleasure to deliver you a talk today on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Another thing exercise does to help your body is combats health conditions and diseases. Exercising, no matter what your current weight is, makes the HDL or High- Density Lipoprotein, which is the cholesterol in your body that is good, increase. Also the unhealthy triglycerides decrease when you exercise. These things help the blood run more smooth and in turn, reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease. Exercise also helps reduce heart disease, asthma, diabetes, and many other diseases found in the body. (mayoclinic.com)
A healthy lifestyle is usually picked up as we get older. However, think of how much more beneficial it would be for our bodies when we get older, if we would have learned and adapted to a healthier lifestyle when we were younger? Teaching your kids how important a healthy diet is, will help them maintain that lifestyle in their older years. Not to mention have lower health risks, higher self-esteem and it will give them the energy they need to keep up with their eating habits and maintain their body weight.
