The Giver a mind blowing film Director Phillip Noyce done a marvelous job when adapting Lois Lowry The Giver I like how Jonas was able to possess the memories good and bad ones from all the different generations of people of the community and how the life was once before it changed and how they were transferred from the the giver to jonas just by the touch of the givers hand. the movie was a very interesting film. i also like that there was a lot of action, everything seemed to be the same from the novel including the theme. another major part of the movie that i liked was when jonas ran from his family unit and went to the infantry to save gabe and escape to elsewhere.
Have you ever read a book and watched its movie and thought that the movie was nothing like the book? The Giver’s story was not adapted well onto the big screen. There were many changes that were made, some of which completely altered the whole course of the storyline. For example, Fiona working at the Nurturing Center instead the House of the Old and the characters taking injections instead of pills also changed the way Jonas acted especially towards Fiona throughout the entire movie Some of the many trivial changes that were made did not affect the movie as much.
Spike Lee was the director and producer of the 1989 movie “Do the right thing”. Do the right thing is a movie about a boy name Mookie (Spike Lee) that lives in a black and Puerto Rican neighborhood in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn with his sister name Jade. He works at Sal’s Famous Pizzeria, which is owned by an Italian-American owner who has owned it for 25 years, name Salvatore “Sal” Frangione. Sal has two son, Pino and Vito, and his oldest son known as Pino is a racist and detests the place likes a sickness” and holds many racial scorn for all the blacks in that community. The Community keeps the memories away from the people, which means that they ignore their past, and cannot gain wisdom or bliss. For example, when the Giver was explaining what memories are to Jonas, he says, “There’s much more… I re-experience them again and again. It is how wisdom comes. And how we shape our future,”(Lowry 78). The Giver describes how wisdom comes in this quote.
At the end of “The Giver” Jonas finds a small village in elsewhere, however, many people are skeptical that this is true.. On page 166 of “The Giver” the author wrote, “Using his final strength, and a special knowledge that was deep inside him, Jonas found the sled that was waiting for him on top of the hill.” Some people believe that he actually found the sled and others believe that he was hallucinating because he was freezing to death in the cold. I believe that Jonas was hallucinating from the cold because it seems more practical. My justifications for this belief are first, his state of being, second, it can be hypothesized from the quote, “His entire concentration now had to be on moving his feet, warming Gabriel and himself, and going forward” which is found on page 165, and finally this theory could be proven by looking at the descriptions of the memories given to him versus what

The movie Stand By Me based on the book The Body written by Stephen King, is about a group of four boys who go on a journey to find a body of a dead boy. It’s a flash back that one of the main characters, Gordie, is having after he reads that his best childhood friend gets stabbed. He is writing a story about this experience. This movie was filmed in 1986 directed by Rob Reiner. The functionalist theory, the conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism are all good sociological ways to analyze this movie. The Perks of Being a Wallflower was brought to screen in 2012 by author and director Stephen Chbosky. The movie is about a 15 year old adolescent named Charlie who is beginning high school with a little more baggage than the normal freshman. The viewer quickly discovers that Charlie’s best friend, Michael, committed suicide during May of their 8th grade school year and the viewer later learns that Charlie’s aunt Helen molested him as a child. Charlie begins school determined to make some new friends and is befriended by step siblings Patrick and Sam during the first week of school. The movie spans for Charlie’s entire freshman year and shows the struggles he has with relationships, bullying, risky behaviors, as well remnants from his past trauma. He has a lot in common with Sam and falls in love with her, but accidentally ends up in a relationship with another one of the members of their clique, Mary Elizabeth. His relationship with her ends poorly and he is exiled from the clique for a few weeks. Upon the school year ending, Charlie is faced with the harsh reality that his group of friends, including his love Sam, are all seniors and are all going on to college. Charlie has a mental breakdown, but is able to reconcile many of his past struggles with the help of a doctor and the support from his parents and siblings. The movie ends with Sam and Patrick coming
Being stuck in a dark and unexplored cave with something hunting you that you know nothing about is on top of most people’s major nightmare list. The Descent takes the audience through some of the most terrifying experiences that they could imagine, while also slowly pulling the audience to the edge of their seat while the main characters fight for their lives. This is one of the best horror movies that I have seen in my life, the story line is very entertaining and the multiple phobias that they appeal to throughout the film allows for most people to have a nice scare. On a scale of 10 I would rate this film at a 9/10 for the great graphics, amazing story line, and some of the best acting I’ve seen in horror movies.

Taking into account the information gained through multiple sources; such as, lecture of Mental Health, medical databases, and the personal experiences of Krickett Carpenter, the Vow provides both an accurate and inaccurate depiction of retrograde amnesia.
Gone Girl, a book written by Gillian Flynn, is a compelling mystery and drama focused on the disappearance of a woman named Amy. Two years later this thrilling novel was turned into a nail biting , suspenseful film, directed by David Fincher. Rather you read the book or not, this movie is worth the hype and experience on a Saturday evening. One particular scene, involves Amy (played by Rosamund Pike) changing her identity and going into hiding, at a motel. She develops habits to disguise herself after being plastered on television, billboards, and magazines. Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, both acted amazingly, capturing the roller coaster mentality and reality of these two characters. The production of this film was astounding; creating a visual image through the sound track alone.
Due to a scheduling conflict, I was unable to attend Halloween Con and instead had to find another option. At first, I was not sure I would be able to find an event that drew in a dedicated fandom, but I was lucky enough to be working the Cucalorus film festival at the Thalian Hall venue when The Shining directed by Stanley Kubrick was screened. The first thing I noticed the sheer amount of fans with shirts depicting events from the film and famous quotes. Then there was chatting about the different mise-en-scene elements, framing, scriptwriting, etcs they either loved or thought they could make better between different pockets of people waiting outside the doors.
