I predict that childhood in the future will be great for children. With the implications of social programs now the future generations of children will be able to thrive and have better a better childhood than the generations prior. Depending on the current trends of the world now future children may be able to have the picture perfect childhood. Some issues that could change significantly in the future are healthcare, safety, politics, clean water, and prenatal care. Healthcare is currently an issue in the United States and around the world. The average American woman will have around fifteen prenatal visits to the doctors, in much of the developing world getting one visit is consider a success (Class Notes). In the future mothers around the world should be able to obtain prenatal care. According to UNICEF educating girls may be the answer to this problem in developing countries. “Helping governments provide a quality primary school education, a UNICEF priority, also benefits maternal and infant health – particularly education for girls. Educating girls for six years or more drastically and consistently improves their prenatal care, postnatal care and childbirth survival rates” (UNICEF.org 1). The future of prenatal care is dependent on the education of girls now. The future of childhood depend on the well-being and safety of children (Class Notes). Children are in danger all over the world on a daily basis. Their safety is compromised by many factors, a most recent factor in many developing countries is war. Presently children are feeling countries with their parents to find refuge in other parts of the world. The child is unable to have a normal childhood because they are traveling with their parents for months trying to create a better life. Currently there are 1 billion people that live without access to clean drinking water worldwide and each year more than 840,000 people die from a water related disease (Class Notes). Water is essential to the proper growth and development of a child. Families lacking clean water will most likely have children that get sick from the bacteria in the water they are forced to drink. I think that people need to be educated more now about these problems so a fix can come in the near future. So far some future options to obtain clean water in other countries are through drip irrigation, water conservation, water treaties, water recycling and rain water harvesting (Gcc.concernUSA.org
