The Gospels

The four gospels all have different images of Jesus, and what His lifetime was about. Each gospel has a different portrait of Jesus, and supplies varying facts about Him throughout the gospels. The different views of Jesus throughout the gospels all come together to form one image. The audiences of each of the gospels influences the author’s writing immensely. The author of each gospel wrote what his audience needed to know/hear, making his writing relatable to his readers. Also, the author wrote from Divine Inspiration, making known to the readers what God was saying to them. God has a different message for each audience that He voices through the author of the gospel. The Jewish people had been waiting for the Messiah to come and help them. This gospel was written for a community of Jewish Christians. Jesus was born a leader, related to King David and Abraham, two important figures in the history of Jewish Christians. Matthew’s gospel contains an abundance of Old Testament references because the Jewish people would understand these references, and be able to relate to them. Matthew’s gospel says that Jesus associates with sinners, to show that He is Divine, but also a human on Earth and can relate to His followers. In Matthew’s gospel, Jesus broke Jewish beliefs, and was frequently in conflict with scribes. The audience of Matthew’s gospel was also breaking Jewish beliefs. The name of my gospel would be Charlotte’s gospel. I would write a gospel for a younger generation because I am included in that generation and can write from their perspective. Young people today have lots of struggles including the stress of school and sports, getting a job, self-image, and peer pressure. My image of Jesus throughout my gospel would be a noble healer, who suffered during His lifetime. The audience of my gospel is the younger generation, including fifteen to twenty one year olds. The image of Jesus helps kids nowadays because they have God to guide them in their decisions. Jesus suffered and is relatable to teenagers and young adults because they suffer in their lives also, but not to the extent that God did. Teenagers have the pressure of school, sports, and maintaining a job to help pay for college. There is a lot of stress that is put on teenagers, and it makes all areas of their life suffer.
