The first major concern with usage of cars is our habitat is being polluted with the green house gases and many other harmful toxins. Greenhouse and other harmful toxins can leave a lasting effect on the environment and on the human body. In the article “The End of a Car Culture” by Elisabeth Rosenthal it says that cars “—it will have beneficial implications for carbon emissions and the environment, since transportation is the second largest source of America’s emissions, just behind power plants.” This shows how much of an effect the cars have and if we use less of them how it will be beneficial. In the article “ Paris bans driving due to smog” by Robert Duffer it show that Paris added a ban on cars due to smog in the area. Later it states
With less people using cars the more people will use different types of transportation, for example, more people will would ride bikes and walk. In the article “Car-free day is spinning into a big hit in Bogota” by Andrew Selsky it reads as ““In a program that’s set to spread to other countries, millions of Colombians hiked, biked, skated…” As in Colombia they had a one day ban of cars, and with this ban most were being very active. Also you may say that there are no walking or biking paths in your area but the government should be happy to oblige and the more we walk and bike the higher of priority. In the the same article in states that “It has seen the construction of 118 miles of bicycle paths, the most of any Latin American city, according to Mockus, the city’s mayor.” This information shows that many governments if asked to make more paths will do so and will not have a problem making them. Health is a major concern to all Americans and if we use cars for one day less it would have a major implications to our life for the better in many different
The first benefit of not using cars for a day will be that the poison that cars release will be able to clear and make our environment clean again. The second reason that we should limit the amount of car usage is that people will have to use other means of transportation and more fitness based ones as well. The final reason is that if we all limit the amount of cars on the road it will also reduce the ample amount of time a person will spend on the road. The amount of car usage should be limited as there is many distinct reason for this
